Thank you. It’s starting to feel like I am making progress. So much of the project so far has just been cutting away rust and it is nice to be adding back on.

I made a little progress today. I built the bumper mount.

Since I am using the coupe inner structure, I had to fab the back part where the window seals.

Did a little rust repair on the B pillar

I’m trying out the lower stance and testing tire clearance issues. I don’t have those nice tools for this purpose so plywood and Ram board will have to suffice for the initial tests.

How low is too low? The lowest point is the bottom of the driveline hoop at 3.5”. The rockers are at about 5”.

Got her up on the rotisserie to finish the welding underneath. And also to get it outside so I could work on my daily driver.

Trying to build something like the original louver/ vent on the sail panel. I want it to be very similar but maybe some additional style.

Thanks for the encouragement. Just to be clear, the red one is the real thing I want to copy. At this point, mine is only cardboard but I’m making progress.

Finishing up all the welding on the bottom. I’m waiting on the trunk filler panel to finish up the body.

I built a wooden window buck. My plan is to bend some metal around this and then add the louvers inside. We’ll see how it goes.

Ok, I got one of the vents mostly done. I built a wooden window buck, cut 2” wide 18 gage sheetmetal strips, bent that around the buck, then built a backplate, then some louvers. It’s close to what I was hoping for.

Wild build and you’re doing great! What size wheels and tires are you thinking? You asked what is too low. I have a car that is less that four inches high, only issue I’ve had is getting it on a trailer. Other than that just might have to plan ahead a bit of possibly depending on your area, look into a lift system for coil overs.

After years of building my car and just sort of building the body while making it up then starting over I finally had rendering done. Cost wasn’t bad at all and we got to discuss a lot of details while it was getting done. Then you get to see what you have been working for all this time. Really helped with my build and saved me tons of time and wasted money/materials. If you think you’d want to get one for your build, hit up Ben at SRD art.

Thanks for the kind words. I am planning n running a 13” wide by 28” tall in the rear. I want to go as wide as possible on the front- I think I can run a 295 up front, 26” tall. I don’t have the front suspension yet but on paper that should work. I mocked up a 14” wide, 30” diameter rear and it fits but absolutely no room for error. I have a lot of adjustment on ride height so I’ll experiment a bit once it’s a roller.

I like the idea of a rendering. I’m not sure the color I want yet but I am painting it myself so I will experiment a little more.
