Our Project Updates forum is filled with daily updates to awesome builds. It's so hard to pick just one each month, but we don't make the rules - actually we do, but forget about that and enjoy this month's spotlighted ride:

70B5Cuda (who also has a cool Cuda build thread..of course) is doing an amazing job with his 1968 Roadrunner.
It's got a 6.1L Hemi, a 6 speed, and you know what else? So many details.
It started like this:
|
Right now, it's going something like this:
|
And along the way, he's kept up 12 pages of details over the past 7+ years, from the finishing touches nowadays:
|
To the nitty gritty all along the way:
|
I'm not going to put more pictures here - note that fender photo was 1 of 8 on just the intial progress on just the fenders.
You like detailed builds? You've got to check this one out.
|
P.S. This build includes videos, and it's got a crazy one on page 12 from when he wrecked his 69 charger...

OPTIMA’s Ultimate Street Car at Portland International Raceway
|
What a turnout at Portland International Raceway!
There are racing series and other driving events, where someone can virtually guarantee a podium finish, if not a win, just by showing up and running in a certain class, but this series isn’t one of them.
Check out the full event coverage on the site, including the Top 10, Award Winners, and gallery of photos on HostMyJunk

This month, our featured member is CarlC!
Carl was the 84th person to join the forum, back in June 2001! He's got nearly 6 thousand posts on the forum, and continues to be an active member to this day - you've probably seen him around the forum sharing his knowledge & experience!
He's also a Moderator for the forums, where he helps out behind-the-scenes keep all you rapscallions in line.
Carl's main ride is his Honor Flight Camaro (seen here with one CarlC in tow, at the Daytona Motor Speedway during the Brock Yates One Lap of America):
|
In addition to haulin' ass and constantly being improved, his Camaro is also the guinea pig for all the serious development he puts behind his well-known, well-regarded, and well-performing (cut me some slack I'm trying) PWM Controller Kits that he sells at VaporWorx:
|
From well known names like James Shipka, Mari Pozzi, and Mark Stielow, to bona fide establishments like The Roadster Shop, VaporWorx's parts are trusted to deliver fuel when it matters.
You probably already know about them, you're maybe even already a customer - so maybe you don't need me to tell you (or the countless others that talk them up) - but I will anyway: VaporWorx has my full endorsement, so check them out for all your fuel delivery needs!
|
Plugs & pitches aside, I want to thank Carl for the decades of time, energy, and love he's put into the forum. It wouldn't be the same place without him, not by far, and I'm honored to be able to count him as a good friend, and feature him in this month's newsletter.

Each month, we feature a cool car currently listed for sale in the Pro-Touring.com classifieds section. There is no set criteria for what qualifies the car (you think “cool” could be a formula?!), the seller hasn’t paid to have us email about it, and likewise it’s not an endorsement on our part. Just a cool car currently on sale.
I've been wanting to give this little '65 Chevy II a boost for a while now. It's obviously made with love and care, and the attention to detail that is required for the bit of a sleeper it is (I think the rims give away that it knows its way around a track too)
Have a look:

More photos, and full build details (including a youtube channel that was started to document the build) in the thread:

A (sometimes brief, sometimes not brief, you'll see in a second anyway) message from Larry Callahan, Pro-Touring.com's founder, to wrap up each issue. Here he goes:

That old expression - the devil's in the details - that obviously none of us know about all too well..
We've had all kinds of themed editions of this newsletter so far, highlighting different makes, different "vibes", even specific engines - but I wanted to highlight an approach in this one: those who take the time (and the money) to go above and beyond.
Of course there's no almost such thing as doing it "right" (that's one of the best things about this, we do it our own way - obviously it still has to run), but these guys and their awesome cars have done it with such incredible focus on detail, that they deserve a newsletter honoring that dedication and investment into such a strict definition of "right" that sets the bar so high.
On a definitely segue-able note (but I'll not, to keep it humble), this edition of the newsletter marks our 1 year anniversary of the not-so-newly-anymore-revived Pro-Touring.com Newsletter! I want to thank you all who read, reply, and share the newsletter around. It's an effort of love, and we thank you for sharing the passion with us, day-to-day in the community, and every month where we meet in your inbox to show you the best of what's been going on.
To the next year! 🎉 And see you next month!
P.S. If you're looking to advertise to the 42,000 people on our newsletter - or on the site where we get hundreds of thousands of visits a month, send me an email: [email protected] - we've got affordable packages to suit from one-man-bands to big-timers.
P.P.S. I just noticed every car featured in this edition is red. Not intended, but fitting!
