Zac - those are all good ideas, thanks for the feedback.
I don't think changing the pan and mounts would gain enough to give us the clearance. the K member is centered with the tires, so we can't really move that back.
Better weight distribution would be nice! know of a good rear mount transmission?
After swapping the fire walls, there's even more space behind the motor, that's true. We're looking to make up a cover for the back and sides once all the accessories are installed so the bay is nice and clean.

I called R&C and there's really no other rack option, so it looks like i'll have to piece together 3 of the 4 tubes on that side.

Hey chunger, yea baby, love the C!
your right on that. the headers are Hooker's. I had them hot jet coated inside and out. Guess I could have them coated again after surgery.

Thanks for the pictures GT500KR. Nice to see i'm not the only one with this "headache"
This steering shaft from the 97 firewall is a bit unusual.
Looks like i'll be trying my hand at piecing a header together!!

How's it going on your project this summer? I know I haven't had much time to play with my car lately, but hopefully you're doing better than me.

Anyway, if you're looking for some motivation, check out this ride...

Looks like it needs some lowering, but pretty nice execution from what little I can see.

OOW, that's pretty. thanks for that Garner!
Those black chrome FR's look great with that paint.
      Summer is too busy.
been working some on my buddy's 73 mach, and a little on the 67

      here's a small update:
we extended the MM steering shaft - "V"d the joings, hot stick welded and ground smooth.

working on the header mod , it's a few weeks out.
those Nascar used pieces were a little spendy. my aim is to rework these, same collector then get them re-hot jet coated.

      [insert header here!]

      Few other fun shots.

What are your plans for the gas tank fill? It looks like you'll be shaving it? I plan on shaving mine and doing a modern flip out door.

we're going to mount it on the rear pillar like this.

we put the fill tube on that side of the tank so the hose will go down and over to connect.

Totally off topic, but I couldn't help but notice the lead missing where your roof meets your quarters. I'll be swapping my roof soon, have any tips on getting the lead out without compromising my health?

Zach, I just used a butane torch and a rag. wear a paint mask if fumes are an issue. I didn't get much vapor coming off it. heated it until it got shiny and started to melt and wiped it out. it's pretty thick through there, did a few passes to get it all out, heat and wire brush on the last pass.

I'm enjoying ever last bit of this thread. Masterful job! I lost my 67 fastback to hurricane Ivan and they are still one of my all time favorites. I was way to afraid to cut into mine, but you sir are an inspiration.
