I just found this build, its uncanny how much we have in common and started around the same time. The Cobra IRS, 3.73s, Cleveland, 94-98 Vert donor, flares, even the same wheels. I'm still not done with mine. I did a test drive about 4 years ago and haven't been home long enough to do anything.

      Subscribing.

We've been working on the rough panels. added to the side skirt. I like the proportion of it.

After much research on what it would take to get the Cleveland up to par with an efi conversion, needed machined parts and all other accessories, trans, trans controller ect...
I decided to shelf the C and go with a 5.0 Coyote instead.

3 main factors that changed my mind.

      1)drivability
      2)cost (vs.)
      3)power potential and required parts.

      heres' a few pics:
Coyote 5.0 complete kit with 6-speed trans:

It shipped today and should be here in a week or so

Wow, this is kinda surprising. Most of the Coyotes kits that I've seen have been around 10-12k (depending on what accessories / extras you want with it). I'm surprised to hear that you didn't feel you could have gotten the Cleveland there with that kind of budget. I mean these don't these Coyotes make a bit over 400 horse? That's a level that's pretty easy to reach with virtually any engine today.

Not speaking for Dalamar , but my experience is that these engine/transmissions can be gotten as pullouts for around $6k. The driveability is way better than the Clevelands or Windsors at the same HP level. Also, much easier to up the HP on the 4V engines.

You'll like that. Makes me wish I'd gone IFS and a modern motor.

I have a coyote in my truck and I love it. It pulls to redline crazy fast, and gets pretty decent gas mileage. I have a 4R70W trans i mine.

That's the same setup I'm putting in the F100. Haven't driven it yet.

      Thanks for the feedback guys!

I've driven a mustang with the 5.0 Coyote in it it pulled in every gear, like Peter said.
I have a completely built and turbo charged SN95, 4.6 SOHC mod motor, 580 to the wheels, and the Coyote is just smoother all around.

Chunger - It's more about the all around drivability vs max power.
pushrod - vs - variable valve timing, DOHC, Alum block, 6 speed trans, all integrated to run with computer and all that supporting stuff, ect ect.... That's my opinion on it anyway.

I do have a truck project that i'll be using the Cleveland in when this car is done.

you Sir, have nailed it! I got this for less than 10 shipped - to finish up the Cleveland and R470W would have cost more. I agree with what you said about the drivablilty and the upgradability.
