That sounds like a bunch of crap. Time for the builder to pay to have a local shop fix it for you.

also, are your tires on backwards?

Builder is on east coast time which makes it hard for me to contact him while I am working. Tried to call todayat 3:00 p.m my time and no answer so left e-mail. Basically told him he needs to make this right again.

After I replaced oil pan gasket it no longer leaked so when I first start it no leaks like before. When I get back from driving it I get about 3 ounces of oil on the floor. May not sound like a lot but I think it is. I just wonder how much I lose total while driving.

Hopefully this guy acts in good faith. If it was me I would. What is right is right or he could chalk it up to bad Karma.

That's way to much. You'll burn up your clutch quick. I wouldn't want anymore than a pinky nail. Maybe you should just tear it out and have it gone through by another builder. Sure seems like a real hack job. I've got a great engine builder in Hesperia. Jason Pettis

I thought about the clutch but I'd hate to miss Buttonwillow. Man this is killing me.

Right now I'm thinking I am going to chance it. If I could make Buttonwillow and the Spectre341Challenge thats all I ask.

I still haven't even fully opened up the secondaries yet and she feels pretty strong. Got rid of the torque bounce in the rear by adjusting shocks. Took her around a couple of loop freeway entrances and there might be a slight push.

Was in fear of getting ticket so I didn't push to hard but right now handling feels better than decent.

Any chance that you are getting excess blow-by or crankcase pressure pushing the oil out? (check your breathers?) Just a thought, sometimes these oil leaks are not necessarily the gaskets fault but a sign of something else.

Or could it be higher up since it sounds like your pan seal was re-done... crank seal, one of the 3 plugs at the back of the cam, rear of the intake, etc?

I had a pan leak turn out to be a weld-in bung for the oil heater. It doesn't take much to make a huge mess.

Hang in there Cos. I understand why you are not happy -and justifiably so- but look at the big picture as well. It sounds like the motor runs really strong and that is the most important thing. I agree with Dan that it could be a bunch of little things that are making up the oil spot now that you fixed the pan gasket. BTW almost all 2 pc main SBC seals leak some, and this is the reason they went to the 1 pc type. Go to Buttonwillow and have a great time. Those little Alfa's are going to say what the hell was that as you motor by them at warp speed on the track. I can't wait to see the video!!!

Right on, I'm glad you didn't forget!! Just feeling motor out before I tear into her. I haven't even fully opened up the secondaries yet.

But trust me, I'll slam second without even lifting my foot, LOL.

Thanks for all the support guy's. You are solid people. Hope to see you at an event some time.

I checked everything and it is definitely the rear seal. I thought about excessive crankcase pressure but ruled it out after fixing intake and pan gaskets.

Took car out again after work today. Fully opened up the secondaries for the first time.

I normally take a short drive down Green valley Rd, pull in at the parking lot of the Purple Place(yocal hangout), drive through parking lot and see a bunch of Harley's and a red 64 pro-touring vet. I slowly drive by idling(rumpeta, rumpeta, rumpeta) as they stare at me from the outside tables. Then I get to the edge of the parking lot pointed back up Green Valley Rd, slowly pull out and then stomped on it, LMAO. HOLY $#it !! Broke tires loose up to about 6 grand then hit second and rear squatted and pulled.

Reminded me of when I used to pull outta the parking lot after high school got out almost 30 years ago, LOL.

LOL, Yup I can still hear the principal yelling at me......we had to turn left, uphill to get out of our parking lot....so the burnout ended being a very long one.

      Hows the oil situation?

Sounds like a fun little burnout. It's very cool what you can do with the old school big blocks, a little aluminum, the new technology and abundance of modern parts.

Was it staying straight down the road?

Just got back from Buttonwillow a day and a half early. Oil leaks worse now and motor definitely needs to come out.

Do you have any wheel hop? I have the first stage Global West leaf springs, and was really hoping not to have to use traction bars. (hate the way they look)

No wheel hop. I changed my QA-1 single adjustable shocks to lowest setting and car squats and goes. When I set it to highest setting I would get a torque bounce.

I definitely dont recommend traction bars. Just not the way to go these days.

Wow..sorry about the engine deal..I just had a bad feeling when you first mentioned the problems, sounds far too familiar. I would love to see you take this engine to a reputable engine builder and have them completely go through the whole build,I think we all would be in for a shock, when you find out that most of the parts are crap,or probably installed wrong,or not built with the right tolerances.

I don't mean to bash this engine builder, but I think whats going on with your engine just seems fishy to me,and I would hate for some shop to basically doggy screw some hard working guy who supports this hobby out of serious money. Hopefully, this engine builder will step up and take care of the issue and make it right, but if they start acting like its your fault,or there has 'never been a problem before' crap, then you know who your dealing with.

Hope your time at the track was fun..too bad about the engine though.

      Good luck with it all...

      -Jim
