But do they utilize a purge solenoid?

Question , when running the C6 controllers there is no need to use the relays for the Spal fans correct ? . I found a wiring diagram on one of the Corvette forums , from what I see wires 1 & 4 are for the fan , 2 is ground , 3 is constant hot , and 6 is the control wire . I take it that the controller contains a relay ? . Am I on the right track ? .

The controller is the "relay" but way more. It's a simple hook up. Two leads (labeled with a M) go to the motor. The little wire is the pwm- signal wire that goes to the Dominator. The other two big leads are power and ground. I like running the ground directly to the battery. The power also runs to the battery, but I run mine through a 40amp circuit breaker.

That works too! So you got the matting connector for the round connector too?

No sir , since I’m running dual Spal fans I’ll use the connector provided . I’ll use a weatherpac connector for the ECM hook up. For +&- I’ll run wires to the battery as you suggested.

A weatherpack is not suited for this application!!! Have you seen the size of the terminals on the round connector? Those are probably rated at 80amps. I think a weatherpack terminal is rated to 30 amps. You will need something more substantial on the battery side connector. On the fan side, I would butt splice (quality unshielded butt connector with glue lined heat shrink tubing) the big wires from the controller and Y them out to the fans.

On the battery side, you need to go with something like a metripack 630 series connector. Delphi makes a 3 capity 630 series connector, which is what I believe is used on the Corvette.

      https://www.waytekwire.com/item/3813...le-Connector-/

That link is just for the female side. I would give Waytek a call and have them guide you through the rest of the parts to make this work, or shoot me a PM and I can give you all the individual part numbers so you can order from Mouser. Waytek has a minimum order quantity, and per part is generally cheaper than Mouser, but Mouser will sell you smaller quantities.

Better yet, go back to the junk yard and get the Yazaki round mating connector and buy new terminals from Spal, if they actually sell them. More details here:

Wow Andrew ! You are a good man . I really appreciate you doing my research ! lol

I can't say that I'm not confused though . As I said I was going to use a weatherpack connector on the trigger wire from the ECM (Dominator) . The trigger wires from the ECM and the controller (06 Fusion) are so small that I figured a weatherpack could handle such a small load . The other 4 wires on the controller don't look to be any more than 14g max. . Does the controller up the current or draw a lot of juice ? As you can see I'm in a bit of a fog . Why would I need this round connector when there are just two wires , one for ground and one for 12v ?

      Thanks again

      Mike

The big wires are 10 gauge. The little wire is 18 gauge at most. The two outside wires need to be 10 gauge and go to the motor. This should be done via high quality butt connectors (unshielded with a proper crimp tool...with glue lines heatshrink tubing). The two inter big wires also need to be 10 gauge and also need to incorporate the signal wire. The solution that I proposed, with the 3 cavity connector from Spal has the three wires worked into it. There are the two wires going to the controller, plus the signal wire, all in one connector.

I guess I would want to see what is at the end of the wires that you got from the junk yard.

Nothing at all , snip snip . Didn't think I would need the other connector .

In that case, I would do the 3 cavity Metripac 630 connector, or just do a good butt splice and take ground to the battery and run the power through a circuit breaker to the battery.

No more careless snipping please ;-)

Update , I've finished my fuel tank ventilation system .I tried to hide it as best as I could. I ran it from the tank , across the trunk floor , up and across the package tray and down through the floor to a Mazda vapour cannister mounted above the 8.8 dif. Unless Andrew finds something wrong with it ! lol . The other day I watched a Jay Leno's Garage segment on youtube. They were taking about the three levels of the Dodge Challenger that were available . He asked if the RedEye had the Hurst Line Loc that the Demon had and it reminded me of the V8 Vega that I built when I was 19 . I had a Line Loc in that machine and it was a hoot , loved it . So guess what I bought ? .

So the Miata canister just vents to atmosphere? I wonder how it is hooked up in a Miata. I bet it gets purged into the engine. I can't comment on this any more, because I honestly don't know, but it looks good!!!

All hotrods should have lineloc! Makes trips to the drag strip less dramatic. Also fun on the street!!!

Update , I've installed the Hurst Lineloc , mounted the fan controllers under the rad , built and installed a sub-woofer box along with rear 6x9 speakers , as well as an amp for the sub-woofer. As the car sits now there is 3.75 inches of ground clearance , I'd like to have at least 4.5 inches . This is the first time I've had coilovers on one of my vehicles and I have a few questions. I'm running ridetech coilovers with 400 lb springs that were included in the TCI suspension kit . I'm about 2/3rds into the adjustment range on the shock and it doesn't look like there's much shock travel at this point. I think I'll need to contact ridetech for some input .

I think we need some pictures after this update. I would love to see the ride height and stereo stuff.
