Bad news and sorta good news on the build.

The bad news is after trying and trying to get the engine level in the car, I took some measurements and found that the subframe is bent. It is bent about 3/4" down on the right front. Doesn't sound like much, but it is.

The good news is I just ordered a new subframe from Speedtech with a unisteer rack. This pic is from their site:

Using the stock subframe (which was pitted in areas) without a rack was the only thing I had regretted on my build to this point.

I will be transferring all of my GW suspension over to the new unit. It should be here a week from Friday.

      Awesome Phil!
I can just hear that conversation with the wifey...
Honey, you remember when I needed to do ___ and ____ for the new pool you wanted? It was worth it, right? You are happy, right baby?
Well, I have a little problem with "wicked bird" , you know, my other love....she needs a new front end. So I ordered it.
When it is all done it will be so cool and everything will fit up just right. Don't worry, it's under control.....

Hey Cliff, it has been too long! I have been holding out a bit. The Speedtech subframe is here and I started swapping over my front GW suspension this week.

I will have some pics in the next day or two.

The subframe comes uncoated and it still is. I need to test fit everything as SpeedTech doesn't make Poncho engine mounts yet. Once I test fit everything in the car, I will take everything back apart have the subframe powder coated matte black to match other components (wheels, valve covers, etc.).

Speedtech subframe in the raw...working on transferring everything over. Once I get everything installed and the Pontiac engine mounts fabbed, I will disassemble and have the frame powder coated:

      Simpson camlock belts:

Budnik steering wheel (set in place (crooked) but not installed yet):

That looks sweet! It will look great when its powder coated. That shot of the interior looks good, those belts will hold you in there. Keep the updates coming.

      Hi Rich-

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

I have the motor set in the new sub and have had my fabricator over to look at mocking up some motor mounts. We will need to tweak the stock Pontiac mounts and build new perches. He mocked up a set, but is now on vacation until th end of next week, so "WickedBird" is sitting idle for the holidays.
