Well, I have the day off work and a few things left on the to do list.
I finished the front fender flare, just need to bolt everything down.
Charge the optima, I have a pretty good charger that does a good job.
Fix the diff leak, its weeping through the threads a little loctite 515 sealant (its like hylomar, non-silicone) on the washers and nuts and that should be good to go.
      Double check the fasteners.
      Put some fuel in it.
Prime the enigne and go for a test drive.
See what breaks and fix it.

However long you think your project will take, double it and you might be halfway right.

      Thanks for teh support guys.

I got all the items on the check list done. Filled up the fuel tank and primed the pump.

Then the pump started leaking and not at any fittings. I took everything apart and inspected the pump. Then took it apart. The mechanical seal on the motor shaft had dried up and failed upon starting. But i did get some fuel to the carb so I let it run for a little. Dang I love the way my car sounds. It sounds great for a little 289.

So I could take the time and fix the pump but I am thinking just buy a new/different pump. And now I am thinking about putting in a new fuel tank. Long process. I really just wanted to drive my car today. Oh wells. It keeps me busy.

I wish it was that easy Jon. I have a Barry Grant pump. And it has been great for 5 years, but I heard they closed their doors, BUMMER! So it looks like I have to find a new brand.

I did not like the bracket for the pump and filter that I reinstalled after my 3-link went in, I only put the old bracket it so I could save some time. So now I will use this opportunity to redesign the bracket and it almost makes sence to go all the way with a new tank so I dont have to redesign all the plumbing and brackets. I hate doing things twice.

I am now off to cruisin grand to go enjoy a brat a beer and some other people's cars!

      Part search starts tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone for checking in.

I've been watching this car for a while (note the rust in my picture). At any rate, there's this Patty Hearst thing, where the captive gets so used to being in a certain state that one no longer perceives that certain state as being wrong...

I've of course only been messing with mine (not the first, mind you) since last October, whereas yours has been in a (hobby) state for an exponentially longer period of time. This is not to say that you have not dome some very cool and pretty work to the old box, but your eyes must bleed walking past the thing...

After I heal the can opener holes in my floor from making (f-ing up) some subframe connectors, I may take the inspiration gained from your car and apply a super-cheap panhard rod from Speedway. Here's to dreaming big!

      Thanks Rustomatic,

Good luck with your project. Is that a 63 falcon, hard to tell in the small picture.

Actually I have owned my car since I was 16, 11 years now. This is the longest it has ever been off the road. Since september when I ordered new wheels. But there has been many projects done on weekends. My front suspension I completed in 5 weeks. and that was the longest it sat prior to this susepnsion build.
