Those brakes are massive! CCW's would be nice too. You have a great platform to build off of. I didn't know how much you would be working on the car now that you "finished" it. This car could achieve Bad Penny status if you are always flogging on it and improving it.

The $5,000 project is a great idea. How many hours are you putting in?

I guess I never posted it here, but when I was at Gingerman raceway at the Motorstate Challenge my brakes went away after about 8 laps and I almost crashed it. I never really put any importance on brakes before, well I do now!! To be honest , on a road course the brakes are as important,if not more important then horsepower(never thought I'd say that).I've tried to come up with budget answers to really expensive problems, but there is no getting around the lack of wheel /brake clearance.Scored the Baer brakes on the Vette Forum, but have to order different wheels to make them fit, $2900 worth of wheels. Moral of the story is, if you want run with the cool cars you have to drop some coin. I should still be under $15K (triple the original budget)but this should make the car at least somewhat competitive. Now all I need to do is make the driver more competitve,I have no experience on the road course and almost none in Auto X,but they were so fun, I can't wait to do them again, with a little practice and pointer from some of the fast guys, the car will hopefully get up to its potential. I bet it stops now!

Those things are huge! The red looks good against the blue as well.

Ever decide on what you are doing for the back?

You can take mine back with you

and tub it for me this winter. I will keep yours down here and drive the crap out of it. I could put an interior in it for you....say, hang a pair of fuzzy dice from the mirror and call it done.

I'll be finishing up a Camaro this winter, but it will be a 68. I appreciate the offer, the Mustang could use some creature comforts and the dice would put it over the top. Hate waiting for parts to come in, 2 weeks is fast for custom wheels, but it already seems like an eternity. Ron

They are 18x10 front and 18x12 rear,I was trying to sell the wheels and tires for $2200,but didn't have much interest. So I guess I'll reuse the tires and maybe use the wheels on my Camaro, because they will clear big brakes on it. Ron

      Hey Ron,

      Give these wheels a look:

      http://www.xxrwheels.com/sportmax_962.shtml

Jeff Schwartz used them on his Lemans project. He had the rears widened to 18x13 by Weldcraft. Ended up very reasonable in the end.

      oh god, he's hooked now....

Well Ron, hell of a job keeping the budget close up to this point and the car exceeded all of our expectations. Well done.
Can't wait to see the rest of the build.

Thanks Andrew, from what I understand CCW is one of a few manufactures (2) that that builds a wheel for a C5 that can fit a 15" rotor and 6 piston caliper. The wheels are on order and should be here hopefully soon.I could have run any wheel if it weren't for the C5 knuckles, the stock rotor is almost hitting the lower balljoint, there is no room for a deeper hat,so the hoop and center have to be specially made for the C5.

Schwartz's Temptress was in front of me on the road course, and was a blast to watch,he was drifting it through the long sweeping turns,I tried but didn't have the HP. Ron

You will kick yourself in the ass for installing the TKO600. We pull them religously and replace them with t56 units.

Just read this whole thread also..... WOW... incredible talent and skills you got Ron S.

      That Mustang is incredible!!

I appauld you for going with the "Wide Body Daytona" look, I always liked that look. For a long time I've been trying to figure out how to pull it off on a flatter surface car G-body Buick Regal.

Yours being a curvy ride, turned out sharp.

You stated you thought about getting those front fenders reproduced in fiberglass, did that ever happen?

Again awesome ride, hope to see you at RTTH5, so I can appreciate that car in person. Yep I'll be there for the cruze, not set up or ready for the auto-x.

Awesome talent inspires, I always told my wife when she finishes her schooling , I want to pick up classes in welding.
I showed her this thread , she was also impressed and wants me to go to classes also.
      Thanks
