After the fourth brass prop valve decided to leak I got fed up and just went with the Baer adjustable prop valve. You can see it here in the photo mounted with the GNS Performance bracket. Under the car where the brass prop valve was is now just some junction tee's in the hard lines.

      This set up is amazing!!!!

Got some news from the trans guy......bad news.

Apparently the trans was built correctly and I installed it correctly...the thing that caused the trans to fail was a "hard part failure". It turns out that the most expensive "Be ALL End ALL" part of the trans was manufactured wrong, therefore causing the failure.

My "E4340 Steel Billet Shaft Forward Drum" was manufactured off center, meaning that the billet input shaft was welded onto the forward drum off center. This caused the copper bushings to wear out at a ridiculous pace...therefore taking out the ring lands...therefore taking out the whole center support...therefore destroying my entire trans. The "glitter" in my fluid was from the copper bushing being ate up by the misaligned input shaft.

Here's what failed. **these pics was taken off the part manufactures home page**

My trans builder is in contact with the manufacturer of the part to see if they are going to cover this.

      UPDATE:

Called trans builder last night and he told me that the Input Shaft/Forward Drum is currently at the machine shop to measure the runout on the bent input shaft. This could tell us alot....

Hope you can get the issues solved so you can get some miles in. Won't be long driving season will be over.

If it was a manufacturing error, I would hope the company should stand behind it and reimburse you for the rebuild.

I would hope so too....but its not looking good. Seems that this company feels that they are too good to have a part fail...

Well while I am still waiting on the future of my automatic trans (its not looking good)...I decided to go ahead and pul the trigger on never ever shifting into Drive again!!!!!!

Got this LT1 T56 from Jason Huber at GForce Design Concepts. The condition of the internals are unknown so it will be going to my buddy Rick over at RKT56.com later this week. There we will take it all apart and inspect it. If everything goes well this bad boy will be in the car in no time!!

I will tell you all who made the "suspect" part once I know what is happening with that trans. I don't want to say anything bad until they really tick me off lol.

I have made up my mind to row gears in the El Camino also. Tired of the slush box in the Monte and figure mocking up the El Camino first will be easier than Monte.

Now get to work and enjoy the Monte at RTTH.

Hey Doug with the heart and nerves of steel. Looks like you're at it again, breaking then upgrading. The stick trans sounds like way more fun than you or I am having with the autos. Hope you get 'er back on the road soon!
