There will be a FB fin on the edge of the bumper which will bolt it to the fender, I will probably attach something to the strut rods in the center too.

      Fiberglass

Hey Ron, The company I work for, makes fiberglass molds for 1 off parts a couple times a week. I don't know what materials you have access to, but we usually use 2 light layers, and 2 heavy for those molds. Just trying to save you some work... 10 layers is a bunch.

BTW... Are you going to RTTH?

Thanks for info, I've been calling everyone I can think of, trying to get pointers. What to use as a release agent is the thing I've had the most issues with.

Yes I will at RTTH, always a good time.

I have heard a god automotive wax put on really heavy, But I have not tried it so you might want to do a test piece first.

We use a wax release made by Freeman Foundry Supply, I believe they are in Cleveland,OH. Usually 2 or 3 coats, letting each coat dry before applying the next.

My brother and I are coming to RTTH, I am lookimg forward seeing the cars and people from the forums. I was hoping to get my car done for this, but I am moving pretty slow.

I was at a high-end ski boat manufacturer a few years ago and they said "cooking spray"...??? Since you are going to RTTH, maybe you should make a quick stop at a boat manufacturer and ask some questions. There are quite a few in Tennessee...

Yeah, I had heard cooking spray as well.. But i am a little reluctant to use something like that. But check the ingredients and see if their is anything that might react adversely.

Too busy protesting my government Saturday to get anything done, but I did order some release agent from a marina. Hoping it works good, should start laying glass Wed. night. Ron

Hi Ron, do an internet search for PVA Mold Release. It's what we used when I worked at a Fiberglass manufacturing facility. If you can, add an air fitting somewhere in the center of the mold to blow air in to help release the part. (Like a male quick connect air fitting) When you make the part just fill that hole with some modeling clay or tape if it in an inconspicuous area.

      some good reading: http://winshipmodels.tripod.com/pva_mold_release.htm

      Edit: Too late

The bumper turned out awesome! Did you say you were going to be running some kind of front spoiler or splitter as well?

I'm using an Evercoat product, thats called fiberglass mold release agent, haven't picked it up yet, so I don't know if its a liquid or a paste.

Didn't like how the top lip was, so I cut it off and reformed it, slowed me down abit. Should have the thing done again tonight.

Yes I'm putting a splitter on the bottom.

Got the gelcoat and the first coat of glass on this morning. Waxed the fabricated part multiple times, and sprayed it with PVA mold release, I hope it comes apart.
