I don't know if there's a way, but if you could put a sock over the mic that would be awesome. Love how the engine sounds! She really hustles through the cones!

Thanks for the info. The car sounds great! (except for the wind noise). You even got a little lock-up on the front tire. Must be great to be out driving your car. I still have a ways to go.

Thanks John, you should have your bracket back next week, hopefully. I already have it designed in my head just have to put in on metal.

I broke my FLIP camera on saturday so I bought a sony bloggie for sunday. The sony is going back and I ordered a discontinued FLIP online. Then I will play with reducing wind noise. Thanks for the compliments, I could have pushed the car harder, I was dissapointed when I watched the video and listened to the motor, it was barely working, maybe 4000rpm.

Thanks, wind noise sucks, I will be playing with that. Yep, locked that tire up a little, I guess my little brakes are big enough. This has been a long time coming. The last two years this car has been focused on getting ready to autocross. I now know the next weak link... the steering ratio.

Those parking lot autocross courses are set up real tight, and favor FWD cars. Power is seldom the problem with making a good lap time on those things. Judging by your time, it looks like the engine is making quite a bit of torque in the meaty part of your RPM range to get you out of those corners.

Does Fontana run any autocross that would let your wind it out some more?

I think hotchkis sponsored an event there last year. You are right the car was not horsepower limited. I was told that this was a more spread out course than normal and not as tight. Uh-OH, I will have to get my steering a lot faster if they have a tighter course.

Is anyone running any type of subframe connector on your falcons? When I removed the stock export brace install the new adjustable piece I noticed it was under a little tension once I finally got it the break free. Just tells me how floppy my car is, and the less the body moves the better the suspension can do it's job. Nice videos Bryce, gotta feel good to get out and drive. later...

Badbird here is a link to my thread. There should be some pics of the subframe connectors I built.

I have heidts bolt on SFC's. This goes with the theme of the car. Everything has been bolt on so far. I can remove my shock tower braces and I have no movement, so they are easy to put back in.... I credit that to my aluminum radiator core support that is much stiffer than stock.

Its awesome to have the car out doing what I designed it to do. Thanks for the compliments.

Jason, your weld in through the floor SFC is a lot better than a bolt in style. I still have great torsional stiffness with my bolt in ones. The bolt in ones need to be heavier than weld thru floor SFC to achieve similar stiffness.

I will post up a video after I upload it.

I had a blast, the car is driver limited, of course... I need a quicker ratio steering setup, that is my next big project. I was chasing the steering.....I think my tires rubbed a little. Brakes were great. The rear shocks seemed to get softer as teh warmed up. I think I need to something a little different with my oil pan baffleing. I think I was getting some slosh as my dad noticed that i was burning some oil after a hard turn. Motor was warming up in the staging lanes, so I an electric water pump to keep things circulating while the motor is shut off would be helpful. The automatic held up fine, I started in first and ran second the rest of the course. The trans temps were climbing at the end of my 3rd run I was seeing 200*F. I would like to keep that a little cooler. I really could have pushed the car harder. But that is a respectable time I think. The detroit locker was awesome. My tires were doing their job. The announcer said "that car is very flat through the turns for such a big car" He was talking about me, HAHA. I guess when you see miatas and S2000s all day my car is big.
Nice job! The more i read up on your car and the whole website the more motivated i get to start working on my comet again

hey bryce I see you went with a manual trunk release. Have you seen the swap a few guys are doing where you use a newer Caddy setup in the back and you have a powered button to release, and when you close it, it will engauge and slowly pull the trunk close?

Almost all Cadillac Devilles 90 and up have that setup. If you want a ford part, for a FORD Falcon/Mustang, try a lincoln or grand marquis, some of them have the same setup. Kinda cool, no offense, but I think I can manage closing a trunk lid. Auto release/popper is about as far as I would go. The factory torsion bars can be adjusted to open the trunk once the latch is popped.
Bryce, do you have a pic of the bolt in subframe connectors. I like bolt in rather than weld in, I just don't want to cut up the wagon to install the by far superior x-bracing along the floor.
