      Hey Ron,

It looks like your new motor performed well for you at the Motorstate event. Were you happy with your performance (and results) since you didn't have much break-in time for the motor prior to the event?

I really didn't post anything about it because it was kind of embarasing, but on my first qualifying run the car overheated (for sum reason the fans didn't come on) so I had to come in early. I jumped out the fan relays, the fans came on OK. So I propped the hood up a couple inches to let the heat out, and ran the car around the pits about 3 mph. a gust of wind came up and took the hood up and the windsheild out. I only got one qualifying run, everyone else got four. The car felt strong, it would have been much faster after the four runs, if I wasn't such a bonehead.

SCCA weren't going to let me autox Sunday until I threatened to kick the windsheild the rest of the way out and go roadster. The SCCA guy didn't know what to say, he finally agree to let me go if I kept the face sheild down.

A smart as$ buddy made these for me when I got home, Herb and Carol got a few good pics of the car before the unfortunate hood pin incedent .

I guess that's one time you wish you still had the reverse open hood, huh??

With all the troubles, that's not too bad coming in 12th on the road course and 8th on the autocross... I'm sure your times would have improved with more than one lap...

You'll be ready at the next event. I guess that's the kind of things that happen when your schedule is rushed...

I've lost hoods twice in the last 40 years. Once, me and once loaning my buddy my car. Embarrassing as hell. Fix it and get back at. I luv reading about your car. It's one of my favorites, besides Mary's Camaro, but then you don't post pictures of your backside. Hopefully you didn't damage the sheetmetal to bad.

I did post some pics in the Motorstate section of the board. Here are more that Herb & Carol took. There is a before and after shot, the first is from Motorstate 2 years ago. I think it looks more petite then it did, but the belly pan, splash panel and rear bumper aren't installed yet.

Edit:You did mean the cars back side right? I know Mary didn't post those pics of her backside!!

Ron, the car looks great. I'm really liking the treatment you gave the rear quarters. Any plans for a rear diffuser?

The rear diffuser will be 3 peices, a will build a box where the license plate sets, then fill the the 2 ends with basically a rollpan. The belly pan which got mashed in the crash, I'm not really sure about. I'm liking seeing the fuel tank in the pictures for some reason, and am not sure I want to completely cover it up.

Ron, I had the coolest experience trading cars at motorstate! That transmission is nuts! Thats something you have to experience,(not something easy to describe)! Had a good time cruising with you to best buy during your engine break in. Twenty miles is plenty for be'in race ready!! Hope to see you at Columbus. I left Motorstate on four tubes so Kenny and I picked up some new KDW's. I do plan on torturing them all weekend!!!

Kenny its always a pleasure, had a blast driving your Mustang. For a carburated, leaf sprung, car with Ford brakes, that thing is an absolute beast . Can't get over how well that combination works on that car.

Work is still real crazy, not sure if I will make Columbus or not. Still haven't touched my car since I got home. That cowl is really boogered up, it will take a couple nights with a hammer and dolly before she holds glass again, and yes I am finally going to put some wipers on this thing. See ya soon .

Very nice build mate just love the mustangs. Damn shame about the crash. That blue looks similar to the blue that is available on the current model ford falcons here in Australia. no more Ford blue paint (just bad mojo). I think the bad mojo isnt with the paint, its that motor in it. The car doesnt want that motor in it. You could chuck this in to be different http://www.fpv.com.au/fpv-range/f6-u...--transmission Who said you need a v8 to get 400+ hp.
