      Silly rid tech question

Got my adjustable coil overs today... Do I need to remove the adjuster to install the upper spring retaining ring?

You have to screw the adjuster all the way in and then the perch will slide over it.

The adjustment knob has changed since a couple years ago, you used to be able to thread it all the way in and slip the collar over. Since they've changed to the plastic knob, you turn it in, remove the torx and the plastic knob & you're good to go.

I know what you mean... Note to ride tech... Need to get some PDF instructions Ect out on your website for things like this ... For instance is the snap ring supposed to lock in the upper mount or does the retainer just rest up against it...

It just sits against the clip.

Fwiw, here's a general instruction in case you haven't seen it.
This one is old since it doesn't reference the (newer style) plastic knob.

Can you run these without the bearing spacers? Kinda weirded that they come with one set of each spacer not 2 ...

Each bearing should have one spacer set and one adapter set, so each shock should come with 8 individual spacer/adapters total.
One set is a spacer and allows you to use a 5/8" bolt.
One set is an adapter and allows you to use a 1/2" bolt.
      Both sets are 1.25" wide.

You do not have to use our spacer/adapters. No matter how you mount them make sure the bearing is free and allows the shock to move. If you bind the mount you'll break the shock.
I've seen the shocks bolted directly to the frame, so nothing can move. This is not good!

I would bolt the shock up without the spring, set the adjusters to full soft, & run the suspension full travel to check for binding. Pay attention to the shock eye spacers. I had a little binding on the Lateral dynamics three link, no issues on the front.

I just looked again and can only assume you are talking about the REAR coilovers? Cuz I have only assembled my fronts so far

I attached a picture of the knob that needs to be removed to install the upper spring perch. This is a newer style ridetech coilover, from the sounds of it the adjusting knob has changed over the years.
