      Protouring Poll

It seems that the focus of protouring shifts directions from time to time. I am not sure if it actually changes meaning or if the more vocal here end up inadvertently giving the preception that it has changed. Anyway I thought it would be interesting to set up a little poll with several choices and let everyone that will, choose the one that matches their opinion of what protouring is. Hopefully, by it being a private poll, everyone will participate.
      Thanks,

Bill you left out all the above! My car prolly qualifies for poser term too. Its slowly transitioning from pro street to pro tour or some where in between. But my transition will consist of more power first then after we go fast in a straight line i'll try to update the suspension to make it more curve friendly. Then to the interior and A/C but only if the a/c doesnt interfere with the turbos plumbing and I can hide most of it. But i doubt if any car is ever totally done. Luckily the last guy already painted it so I can scratch it by driving and/or beating on it.

      I define a pro-touring car differently for a g-machine..

Pro-touring is more street oriented and comfortable (AC and stuff)

g-Machine is more track oriented and concentrates more on performance and suspension.. cush is less important..

And then there is Street Fighter.. oh wait.. I am getting dizzy from all the lables...

LOL, actually if you read between the lines, you have just described three of the four options I listed. I just did not name the options. The one that has no votes would have been pro-show?

I had a hard time choosing between options 1 and 3 because those are both kind of the focus of my car. I am building a powerful, well-handling car that is comfortable and has modern conveniences. I didn't know which one to pick But in the end, although I have envisioned my car as possessing all of those qualities, it will mainly be a street driven car that I would enjoy taking on road trips (e.g. Hot Rod Power Tour). So, I picked option 1.

I also had to pick between 1 and 3.
(1)My car can be driven any day, it is extremely comfortable for power tour cruises since its loaded with modern goodies yet (3)I beat the living hell out of it on the track and want it to perform well.
But since I have to decide I will go with 1 because I dont have the performance and HP that most of the people do.
I basically wanted to build an old car that would out perform most modern cars and have the same comfort.

Steve nailed the difference between Pro-touring cars and G-machines.
Pro-Touring concentrates more on comfort and drivability where G-machines are more for performance on the track with less focus on comfort. Usually not as streetable.

      The correct answer is 'C'.

Some people call them Pro-Touring cars, some call them G-Machines, Trans Am Racers, Street Fighters. They can either be mildly built for the street or heavily modified for competition. Not unlike our Pro-Street counterparts.

AND ALL THIS INFORMATION SHOULD BE ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THIS WEBSITE UNDER THE LINK 'WHAT IS PRO-TOURING?' SO NO ONE IS EVER CONFUSED ABOUT IT AGAIN.

We built the GT55 to focus on power and handling, but we have nice paint and show car things. Art drives it like an ill-respected, stolen, rental car, but we were in the top 5 for SMOY last year and won "Best Hot Rod" at the GT4 Awards @ SEMA. Arrgh! What category is the car? I need to be identified so I can be in a group!

      Pro-G-poser-touring-machine-fighter it is then!

This thread is hard to vote on because it goes in two different directions. The first direction is what OUR car is. The 2nd direction is what we think a pro-touring car should be.
I need to clear up my post above. MY car is currently a 1 because I dont have the money to make it a 3. Its fast enough but not 700-1000hp fast. I also dont have thousands into my suspension.
Over all I agree with the majority and say if you have the money then the pro-touring car in general should focus on 3.

      Conclusion.
--My car is currently (1) and a mild (3) because I am poor
--Pro touring cars in general (3)

All of the above would qualify as my idea of a Pro Touring car.
      As for my car:
I wanted a car that stimulates all of my senses..
Looks good, handles good, sounds good and has lots of power!! At the same time I wanted to have some creature comforts such as Cruise control and a/c. My car will be mostly street driven.
Something unique that is FUN to drive.
