I guess its all about the money, imagine that lol. Kind of sucks because that was the only reality show I enjoyed watching.

      Hey Bill,
What are the wheel/tire specs on that thing? Does it see track time wearing those 'shoes'? Do tell!

From the size of the wheels and the way the exhaust is set up it looks like an old SCCA racer.

You are correct ! Ron Kirby drove the car during the early days. Back story is as follows........

Back in the day when I lived within spitting distance of Bill and Ernie Elliot's shop, I had a "70 Challenger(see below) that I used to rip up and down their runway (before I blew the motor). For a 2-3 yr. period, I was an occasional witness to the restoration of this killer car. I drooled at the work they performed. One day I get a flyer for the upcoming Barrett Jackson auction, and low and behold...........the same 1970 Z28 appears. I immediately got on the phone to the person most responsible for the restoration and the questions started to fly. Long story short, my friend (and local legend) Bob Johnson was present at the auction and purchased the car on my behalf. The previous owner was/is quite a racer himself. Gary Bennett, who many of you know from Barrett Jackson, is that man. This car is his love and I've sworn that one day he may buy the car back.
I've had this baby for years and have only hit the track with it once (though that one time was at the Coronado Festival of Speed). After a complete restoration by some of the best in the business, I originally chose not to drive the car. You will be glad to know I've seen the light and have now decided to let 'er breathe!! Hopefully I can get to Willow Springs the 16th........

OK, no offense but the Challenger isn't much for lefts and rights. I did the quarter mile thing twice. Not to fun being on the track 10-11 seconds at a time and then waiting forever to go again.

Just my opinion........ but being on the track 20-25 minutes at a time beats the hell out of quarter mile runs.

Once again, never mind me............sometimes I cant keep my thoughts to myself, lol.

The only time I turned the Challenger left or right was at the Elliot's runway. It was an awesome experience. Obviously the Z-28's hitting the track. To each his own I suppose. I like just about anything that has a roll bar and a harness that hauls ass.

Never mind me......... I never keep my thoughts to myself

By the way, this car is a 1963 Dodge 330 factory aluminum lightweight pushbutton automatic that I've also run. Kinda awesome experience in it's own right pushing buttons ripping down the track. But granted it's different.

      Peace...

Running down the quarter mile track is fun at times, but I would love to do a road course sometime, closest I've ever come was driving the Tail Of The Dragon in my truck, which is when I realized I needed to redo my suspension lol

I seem to remember a little something about these cars. Push button shifting must have been a hoot, lol.

Didn't they start putting hemi's in them around 1965 or so? If I remember correctly, they were even the car to beat right off the show room floor?

That car certainly is a sweet piece of history.

Now your talking Mr.Goldberg :-) someday you should do a thread or a book of all the cool cars you have owned. I know I would enjoy the stories that go with the cars.

How many times have you heard someone say that in 1964 the Pontiac GTO was the hottest thing out there? Thats funny, yes it was probably the hottest "selling" thing out there but Mopar had those cars covered by a landslide lol!

GOLDBERG -- bring that bad boy Z28 to the road course if you can next month! You will make our already impressive roster even more fantastic with that!

Having just been to the vintage Trans Am series races last weekend at Laguna Seca, I am in love with that style of car even more. Get that sucker out on the road course... somewhere... anywhere. LOL
