Car is coming together nicely Bill. Cant wait to see the finished product. Two questions for you, which master cylinder set up is that and do you have any pictues of it before install, and second whos dry sump tank is that?

Tilton and Peterson respectively.....Reserviors from Kirkham Motorsports.

Peterson came highly recommended but when the car gets to Hendrick Motorsports they're fabricating a complete dry sump system.

      Hey Vince,

Here's a link to some information on the billet brake reservoirs:

      http://www.kirkhammotorsports.com/pricing/pops/res.html

I like the billet installation bracket that Bill is using. I don't see it listed on the link but it looks like it's supplied by Kirkham as well...

Only days 'til arrival!!! Though not completely finished yet, I'm stoked to at least have the beast home. Dash installation and a few odds and ends and she's off to Hendrick for dry sump then over to DSE for some TLC!
Should have some great photos coming this weekend.....

Nice looking project. I have a good friend over at the Hendrick Hot Rod Shop, Jim Pettigrew, he did a lot of the original custom fab work on my car including the sub frame.

If you are OK with it, may get a personal tour of your car while it is there.

Thanks for the pic of the brake reservoir Bill. Amazing car so far. Want to see it run hard and abused though. How long do you estimate till completion?
Also how do you know Kori Alexander?

Excellent choice for the car! By far GM's best work! Very excited to watch this thing come to life. The quality & performance will be world class.

Bill, this is your car right?

What's funny is I remember that 70 TA from years back (2005 maybe) when we were discussing it on Performance Years. You ever poke around over there? Albert & several other Pro-Touring members post there as well.
      http://forums.performanceyears.com/f...play.php?f=437

Sorry to hear it wasn't a real RAIV :( Did you get PHS done for that car? What about the SD? BTW, if you do still want a real 1970 RAIV to complete a kick ass bookend pair with your 1973 SD LMK & I'll put you in touch with Matt or Bill. 99% of those cars are never advertised when they change hands & those guys know where all 88 of them are. Well, most of them anyway.....

I do have a question for you about induction & the shaker. What do you plan do with all that? Are you going to mount the shaker to the hood or engine? Is it going to be functional or cosmetic? I really want to see what your plan is on this. I'm currently building a 1970 TA as well with a LS1 & not real sure what to do... I want the shaker functional & mounted to the engine but don't know an easy way to accomplish it. Year One makes EXACTLY what I want but they use them on their Bandit cars & won't sell me one

so I may have to fab something like this:

Keep the updates coming & I'm pumped to see more of these 70-73 birds getting some spotlight

Yes sir!!! That's my car. True it wasn't a real RAIV hence why I'm turning it into a protouring beast. I tracked the car for a while, from Hemmings to ebay. Always knew there was something fishy about the car.....
      It is what it is.
As far as the scoop is concerned, as much as I'd like to help, Hendricks Motorsports is handling the shaker and I won't know it's final construction until the car heads over to their shop next week.

Love the rendering and wonderig how to obtain one for my 1978 T/A Pro Touring Project.

I own a collection of cars, see www.theburtcollection.com - recently finished a 1951 Allard J2 restoration - now moving to the 1965 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2. Our guys have finished a wide variety of cars for the collection - such as a 1978 280 Z and we are finishing a 2003 S6 Avant (Audi). I own a 1979 T/A with only 400 factory miles - but, of course, cant justify driving it. So, we bought a 78 T/A to convert to a pro touring - seems we all have a similar idea - and need mucho advise on what exactly is the best suspension, interior, etc. I'f like to use a LS3 - nothing too crazy. 400 HP or so should move her down the road nicely. The donor car is gold - no T-tops - auto. I'm not 18 anymore, and this should do. But I'd like her lowered - but want to maintain the snowflakes (or at least the look of snowflakes). Also want a killer stereo.

With 170 cars in the collection, they call cant be driven adequately - but this one is an old flame - and a dream for many years. Our team is anxious to get started. We did post pics of the car on our Blog at
http://www.theburtcollection.com - so please take a look and jump into the fray with your thoughts and suggestions. Thanks again. - Paul

If you like the Snowflakes, check out the 17"x9" Year One cast alloy Snowflakes...they look great on those late T/As but let you run some reasonable sporty rubber.

You definitely need to be running a different wheel than the factory 15x8s. There are several options to keep the snowflake look. It all depends on how much you budget to spend. I put together a collection of 2nd gen trans am high end builds here if you want to see the latest and greatest 2nd Gen Trans Am builds...
