I love it! Builds like this are very inspiring for the do it your self kind of guy. Its scary cutting up a big dollar muscle car to just "give it a try." Not as big a deal in your case. Your car will be just as cool or cooler then big dollar muscle when done and you did it yourself.

I am going to paint my car British racing green and finding the shade is quite a chore. There is a build on this site with a car painted Kriptonite green (a GM color) and looks very cool. I cant find the thread right now to paste. Jeep has some nice factory non metalic greens too.

Hey thanks for letting me know! Thats cool...I'm a huge 1uzfe fan, so the sc400 was a natural choice for a chassis donor. ;)

Another guy from Club Lexus here... I own a Lexus SC400 and also have a Volvo 245. I feel like I am staring at their illegitimate (but very cool) baby. Thanks for sharing!

Poopy. Insane build. When you first cut the SC400 Unibody was there any initial Bracing of the Chassis or was all the Bracing done when you shorten the Chassis 3" ? Do you have any interior Photo of sheet metal (Chassis / Volvo Body) ?

no, the lexus chassis is so stiff with its massive tranny tunnel i didnt think it needed anything, the volvo on the other hand was well braced! I will get some interior shots this weekend. ;)

[QUOTE=Poopy;734122] I am going to get the body dropped even more and build some fender flares sort of like this guy:

Where did you find that picture? I don't remember seeing it. That's my car! That race was in *98 at Road America.

I'm back.....shop is cleaned out.....got some new tools....I'm skipping racing this season to finish this car.

16 bolts and the whole front suspension, motor, tranny all comes out! I love it!

Started putting it back together, but the supports for the fenders are rusted to ****, I decided that I'm going to rebuild the front end with 1.5" DOM tube and hang the fenders and sheet metal from that, should really stiffen up the front and and will tie the roll cage in nicely.

And now that the motor and tranny are out.....I can steal the bell housing and test fit my new adapter for the manual tranny!

Got a new die for the tube bender today so I can start making the front end tube work. Its adding some structure to the front end, as well as being contoured to fit the fenders so they have something to mount too. I wasn't planning on tubing the whole front end, but the volvo side was so incredibly rusty, this was the simplest, strongest solution. Tomorrow I should start filling in with more tube down to the frame, and sheet metal in between.

Just gluing it together now....i'm fighting the line between race car and street car....I like race car because its faster and easier, and I by no means want this to be a nerdy show car. But I think its looking pretty cool.
