      '66 Pontiac Resto-Mod Update

Just a quick update. Took delivery of a '66 Lemans vert the end of May 2008. Didn't want to cut up and butcher a real numbers matching GTO, so the Lemans was a perfect candidate.

      Here it is at delivery...

Finished powdercoating frame, SPC tubular adjustable UCAs in front, Howe tall ball joints, SPC springs all around, Currie Currectrac rear UCAs and LCAs, Spohn rear sway bar, Moser 12 bolt crate rear end w/Truetrac, 33 spline 3.73...

Quicktime scattershield mocked up with TREMEC TKO600 Tranny:

Engine built, tested, dyno'd and ready for installation...

Body has been gone through. Everything aligned, 3 rounds of block sanding already...

It's off the frame one last time on the rotisserie. Hopefully have the underneath and firewall painted by the end of next week or early the week after...

Hope to have all bodywork, paint and chassis assembly done by May 1st.

More progress. Over the weekend, got the motor in for the last time, with headers. Installed the hydraulic clutch assembly (concentric slave cylinder/TO bearing), scattershield, etc. Installed entire assembly. Installed new stainless 8AN fuel supply, 4AN fuel return, and hard stainles front to rear brake lines. Installed air bags in coils, and put the front shocks on.

Waiting for a few parts this week, but expect to take the rolling chassis back to the body shop this weekend. Underneath of body and smoothed firewall will be painted by then, and body will go back on car. It's been through 3 rounds of priming and block sanding. One more, and then it will be finish up and paint. Already clearanced the inside of the rear wheel wells to make a wee bit more room for rubber.

I can't wait to see how this turn out. You are using most of the same parts that I going to use. I am real interested in how low it sits I want mine pretty low using coils.

What parts are you using? Let me know and maybe I can give you some feedback about them

Yes. There's still more in it. For a number of reasons, ran out of time and I never touched the carb yet. Without any changes to jetting whatsoever, it was 561hp/580tq. Avg hp was 505 and avg tq was 550. Torque was already at 550 by 3800 and stayed above 500 to 6000rpm. Timing was only 28.5. With a little fatter jetting and a degree or two of timing I'm pretty confident that the final numbers will be another 20-30hp. But the torque curve is so solid I hate to mess with it.

I was building for 550/550 reliably on pump gas so I'm happy. I could run this thing right now on 89 octane if I had to.

Stopped in today. Things are coming along nicely. Here are a few updates.

Wheel wells continue to get nicer:

      Underneath will be extremely clean

I plan on using all the spc front suspension as you are. I am still unsure about coils, just not sure how low I want to go. And I am going with UMI rear upper and lower control arms, along with the spohn adjustible rear sway bar and 1 5/16" front sway bar. And a set on bilstein shocks. I like a stiff suspension.

That's a good bit different that mine actually. Sounds as thought the only thing the same is the front UCAs, and maybe the springs.

Mark at SC&C pretty strongly advised against that beefy of a front sway bar for me. Are you doing an A or G Body? I didn't think Spohn had an adjustable rear sway bar for the A-body.

I am working on 1967 Cutlass and I had talked to Mark about the sway bar and he had one listed on his site. I talked to him for about 455 mins one day. Great guy. I guess I was more interestd in like I sadi seeing how low your car sat with the springs.
