Thanks, it's just it makes no sense for you to complain about the work unless you are willing to show pictures of the area and I know how hard it is to capture small mistakes with a camera. When you accuse a company of bad-work people really need to see the proof if you want thier backing.

Would you like the thread "cleaned up" of the drama or do you want to start fresh at this point?

I removed post 110 since talking about lawyers on this site is not the right thing to do. This is the story of my car I think the tread is fine as long as the subject is changed its the start to finish on my car thread.

Just a thought here I thought about this morning about this car/thread. Remember, this is a car, and if you actually drive it, it will get more imperfections quickly. I know, because the goat has almost 10K miles on it now and road rash happens. I would much rather see you put the car together, enjoy it for a while since it is already painted, then you can repaint it later when you get ready to put it in a museum. Trust me, after the first scratch or two, you forget about a paint blemish. I can point out an issue or two with the goat, but who cars, they are proof I drive it and to me that beats a 100 point paintjob. On the other hand, if you want a World of Wheels paint job and show car, skip all the go fast parts, cause you ain't never going to use them.
Like I said, just a thought. Don't get hung up on perfection, or you will never finish and enjoy the car.

I agree too! Plus Chop offered to fix it. It's probably a quick fix. I have a feeling if you try to start over you aren't going to be happy with the results. Plus you should spend the money in other areas. Even the show cars on TV have problems with their paint. If you don't want to drive the car redo it; otherwise have him fix it and put the money else where.

Looking at the photo's is it me is someone in a t shirt leaning against it , noted also no barrier. Like whats been said I would finnish it off use it then use it , then get it done , painted mine 6 yrs ago no marks , had it redone last yr as it not been on the road and needed some strips drove back home and scrapped it between the 2 houses and the closer you look the more you find , when looking at some of the spray jobs being done on the shows you have to wonder how they look in real life. Also over in the US you seem to colour sand after a paint job as if that's normal , over here they look at you gone out if it aint no good coming out the gun you've done something wrong.

thanks to all who have also agreed that publicly bashing and whining is not the right thing to do. I have offered time and again to review anything the customer wishes to fix WITH him, just not right now because I am on a strict timeline for 2 SEMA cars.I offered to revisit this car in early November.4 weeks inst a lot of time to mull over. Its in his court.

As for the wrecker- I too cringed. They wrapped a chain around the cross member and we just about cried in the shop.

Im hoping the owner really takes a good look at the razor straight lines on the car and realizes that the car is a CAR- damn near pefect and great one- but a CAR . It cant help keep your family member health, can't feed you , and cant make your kids remember the last time they saw you happy....

The paint is like an orange mirror and another shop would be thrilled to do over my work I am sure- just to say they did.Still think its a big mistake.

I am a professional. I stand behind my work and employees . I am still open to anyone who wishes to chat with me about this or any other project I have going on (or have completed).I know not everyone on a message board knows how to do what I do, so I am always there to help someone else out in answering something if I can.

The offer still stands for this owner-even afetr all the bad mouthing, threats and name calling- it still stands. Thats just how I do things.

That's very honorable to say; I wish more shops were like that.

On another note- heard that even though this car was pulled from for a photo spread, they are going to use the other Camaro Im working on in my shop instead. A better ending I must say.

Gosh, this reminds me of what happened on my paint job. I paid the guy all the money he asked for and when the paint job got botched and I complained about it, all the guy did was belly ache about how much of a savings I got and how much money he lost and yadda yadda yadda. I'm not saying that's what happened in this case...it just brings back bad memories. LOL!!!

You are right - that isnt what is happening here- I am offering to go over the car and see what the customer finds unacceptable and work with him . From the sounds of things , he has decided to go elswhere.
My offer stands and I just cant keep beating a dead horse on this issue.

Did the owner not like how the pearl/color turned out, threw a hissy and took his toy home? That's what it sounds like.

Calling your customer a "whiner" is probably not the best way to go...

The owner offered to drop the subject, that's a two way deal ;)

We all hope you two work this out.

Please read the thread.. all this does is restate whats already been stated. Customer was upset about aleged imperfections in the paint (chips, hair, bubbles, etc)

Man, I just know this thread is going to end in a big old padlock...

wasnt calling the owner a whiner in any way-just saying there is too much going on about somehting no one but me and the owner really know about. placing a big old pad lock on the thread would probably be a very cool idea. That way, the owner can start a thread about whats going on from here with his car and I can move on and show stuff that IS still in my shop and help out where I can if people have questions to answer.... it would be a win -win for both of us and fnally put this thread to rest.....

All I can say is from "the pictures" it sure looks nice. I have posted some pictures of my 67 painted 02 Prowler orange and you can most likely pick out a few things and if not they stand out like a sore thumb to me.

Lots of people have commented on my paint job and how great it looks. I am in agreement it does look nice and I love it but I can find flaws here and there and it is upsetting.

I can say this with complete honesty. I want to thank the owner of the car in this thread and the owner of the shop and other posters on the topic for making me relize that what I have once the major flaws are fixed is going to be just fine and I need to stop nit-picking my painter!! If there is one thing I learned before reading this it just made other things worse on the car.

both of us stood back and wrote down what we thought should be fixed to make the job right for both of us. After a war of words for days on end it was amazing to see his list was bigger than mine!!!!! We agreed to take a few off my list and his and he pointed out areas that really bothered him and needed fixing that he did not want other to ever see.

Reading this thread has calmed me down even more and problems can be worked out. I will be even more happy with our end result now. You both cam still work things out, it's not too late and I know you will be more happy in the end having gone to war and then made peace again. Sometimes it's just part of the proccess especialy when money and pride are involved.

A cold beer (or ice tea) between people can mend fences amazingly well. It's formula that seems to work more times than not.

      Joe

BTW: On the funny side of things, notice the name of the color "atomic orange" I guess it's lived up to it's name......LOL

With that said I think it's time to put this one to rest. I'm going to close it for the moment to possibly do a little cleanup on isle 85.
