      These cars are capable of major power, even using the stock motor, my valve covers have never been off even. Here's what the performance mods include, which with a turbo car unlock it's power potential because its all about timing and boost.

      For getting air into he car:

      * bigmouth style cold air intake with KN filter outside he engine compartment in ambient air.

      * 25psi boost controll solenoid.
      * Power plate spacer that helps the increased airflow and stops the back pistons from running lean.

      For the ignition:

      * Chip burned to increase timing and work with methanol
      * injectors calibrated for increased flow
      * high output fuel pump
      * fuel pressure regulator
      * Methanol injection system, the factory coolant reservoir has been moved to behind the bumper and a new stock OEM one is used. (you can see he braided stainless steel line going up on he left side of he intake, that's for the methanol)

      For the exhaust, the blow part:

      * 3" down-pipe from he outlet side of he turbo
      * high-flow cat convertor
      * aluminized steel tubing with flowmaster mufflers

      The reason you use methanol is for cooler engine operating temps and safety.
      I could not run 25psi of boost (almost tire pressure) and then compress it in he motor w/out worrying about pre-ignition or detonation, which can blow the motor apart.
      The computer uses the MAP sensor to turn the spray on progressively a 10psi, so when I'm putting around, just using vacuum and not turbo pressure, I not only get excellent MPG but I don't use the alcohol at all.

      It's probably a high 11 second car on a track with sticky tires, like it sits now, low 12's should be easy... which blows the doors of most sports cars on the road today, here's a Dodge viper getting whipped by not one, but two GN's simultaneously.
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlvo8J7ZBds

      ---- as for the stereo --- that's even more difficult to explain but I'll make it brief.
      I've added a few things:

      1. 91 GMC CD player (since GN's only came with cassette players)
      2. 1/3rd octave trunk mounted EQ that allows me to tune he car digitally and control an iPod.
      3. 600watt alpine amp under the front passenger seat.
      4. pair of Focal high end neodymium mid-bass drivers in the doors in custom vinyl enclosures to look exactly like the factory concert sound speaker pods.
      5. Image Dynamics waveguides under the dash for mid-treble that puts the sound stage up on top of the dash and separates the stereo image equally across the car.
      6. the sub-woofer, is a vintage Polk audio C4, with 4 6x9' sub-woofers in a push-pull compound isobaric 3 chamber bandpass enclosure, it is very small and looks good in the trunk and only weighs 28 lbs but has the output of a pair of 12" sub-woofers. http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107642

      That's a great list you've made and that looks like a really nice GN. But, you're not going to get out of the 13's with that after-market MAF. The OE one isn`t tapered. The one you have installed is one of the generic one-size-fits-all Pep Boys deals. Get a MAF translator and an LS1 MAF and you`ll be good to go.

      Hey Tom, I met a guy up in Michigan with a 'Bu that looks identical to yours. It's an original 4-speed car that he bought from the original owner.

      You are absolutely right, I've got a stock one in it now. That ran but not sure where it came from, we mocked up the cold-air kit using it as it's the same length as the OEM one.

      You sure know your Buicks to notice that!

I pick up my "built" up 4L60E tomorrow.Though i wished i would've waited and picked up a 04 GTO LS1/T56 combo for only 200.00 dollars more that came up a week later..... Damn oh well! Guess i continue on my swap. Anyways here are some pics of my "new" engine.

      My car needs updated BAD. Its a 406, t56, custom 12 bolt, C5 brakes, Falken 615 tires, 1LE front sway bar with every factory suspension brace made, GNX rear seat braces and I should have my DSE rear competion sway bar by the end of the week. I would love to have the DSE coil over system with a set of 18" wheels and a nice hidden cage along with an LS motor of some type. My 406 won't run on pump gas alone.

      '83 GMC Caballero

      Count us in, too. We've just bought an '83 GMC Caballero, and have an LT1/T56 combo sitting in the garage for it. We'll be working with Joe from Bulldawg Musclecars (see post #396) to make sure we get it right. Pics to come.
