Thanks for the comments, guys. Tony, the body guy and I are the same person. Not buying new bed sides was one of the worst decisions I've made in a long time. The crating and freight were as much as the parts. I didn't like that fact. Call me a dumbass.

Please don't take what I said wrong, I was sharing a bad experience that I had. I welded wheel tubs in which made it even that much worse for the body man.

No offence taken, Tony. I was just relating to how I caused myself all that extra time because I didn't buy bed sides. Nobody makes hoods but they do bed sides. That should be a short discussion at the beginning of most truck projects.

Last night I sanded the rear fenders. The bugs didn't sand out of the clear. Back to repaint land.

Fenders without insects. Orange peel will be dealt with later.

You're making me question my decision to keep my bed sides. I don't have much time in them besides sand blasting so maybe I should quit now

How do you like my heated outdoor paint booth?
Maybe the last coat of primer.

c91x, without a doubt, I would recommend new sides unless yours only need a little work. Mack Hills or Dan Carpenter are my recommendations for good panels. Markay used to be good, also. If the front panel is rough, I'd buy it too. This is hindsight on my part.

Gojeep, I believe it was some activator that had aged. All that stuff is stored in a temp. constant room. Because this truck is going to sit outside all the time, I purchased HOK clear for it. I'm expecting the clear to last for years under normal conditions but we all know the cheaper products don't.

With all the paint 'systems' now a days, incompatibility can happen at any stage of the prep and paint too. Glad you have something that doesn't require a full strip back.

Fresh from the engine vat. After the cab is resprayed, metal work will be next.
