When I was living there most of the builds I worked on were spent with rust repair sucking a lot of the cash from my pockets, I got spoiled out here, I dont think I could ever start with a Michigan car again.

It looks like yours is in pretty good shape to start with.
The rule is measure twice and cut once. My problem is I still measure with a mic and cut with an axe!

I looked at a LOT of cars before I found this one. It has some spots here and there but for the most part, not too bad. The kid I got it from purchased it from some dealer in Tenessee. He blew the tranny and the headgasket. His grandmother told him he needed to sell the car, so I scooped it.

      Looking good, Chris!

I love your choice of wheels, too...I'm planning to run Rated X's on GNXcess, too (titanium centers, 19"s front and rear). We just got Wally's Rushforth Troopers mounted up and on the car today. I see nice wheels all the time, but the Rushforths are more like jewelry for your car! I'm thrilled with them, and Wally is too!

I looked at a couple styles of Rushforth's and other wheels, but kept coming back the Rated X. I'm doing 18x9 fr & 19x10rr. My color may not appeal to some, but oh well. Jason sent me a preview that I think looks very good, but I'll wait until I have them before I post.
I know the titanium will look good on GNXcess. Are you going brushed hoops?

one day we need to get a bunch of our Olds' together, each with different Rushforth wheels and get pics. It could be Jason's own Olds-Wheel-Guide ;)

Hey Chris, it looks like your build is going well. I decided to stay with an Olds motor too. I scored a 355 ci SBO short block setup for 10:1 compression. I hope to have it installed this summer.

Yeah, had I gone LS swap I would be done by now... SB Olds are greats with the right heads. I had a '69 350 that I sold to get the 455.

Just a small update. I can scratch my wheels off the parts list, they have arrived. Terrible iphone pics, but the color is Satin Bronze.

Oh, man those are pretty. I love that bronze color. Looking at their website, I would love to have one of the 5-spoke variants, like Livewire, or battery, but it's going to be a long while before I can justify $2000 worth of wheels...
Guess I'll have to stick with my Torq-Thrust IIs, and get the peeling chrome stripped (bought them that way, cheap!)

it's hard to justify if you can't see the value of the wheels, and what they do for the image of your car. Wheels change everything about your car, and can make or break it. How many times have you seen a car you love, and go 'man, what an awful choice of wheels'? I could never possibly count the times. For some, you just have to build a few cars to start seeing the value of custom wheels that pretty much nobody near you will have, plus the quality, sizes, strength and ability to have them resized (depending on brand) to change the backspacing all add up in value.

Believe me, this was no overnight purchase. There were a few times I wanted to buckle and go a cheaper route, but I knew i would never be satisfied. I totally understand your position though. I have people I work with that are car guys and can't fathom putting this much into wheels.
