Great build! I remember seeing the artwork first and wondered when I could see the build in action. Then I see this today and it's like Christmas all over. I love sleepers, my first fast car I built back in '92 was a granny light blue 73 Nova 4 door with baby moons on body color steelies, and it ran 11's with a 406 small block as my daily driver. I've seen 'em in 17, can you get steelies in 18's? That would be trick.

If you haven't seen my thread, my goal is similar to yours, build a car on a budget that I can take to the Holley LS fest. I'm doing a 9" too and notching the frame like the racers but I'm really interested in seeing how yours pans out. I'll be ordering my watts link from SC&C probably next week, so you can follow along over the next few weeks and see if it looks like something you might be interested in exploring.

      Lookin' good, keep it coming!

      Thanks for the encouragement, Ben.

Cool wagon! I'll check out your thread. I'm a big fan of wagons and sleepers and 4 doors for that matter too.

I've seen "steelies" in larger sizes - 18s and 20s I think. Wheel vintiques used to make them in aluminum but I don't know if they still do (I think they were called "Gennies"). I would like to have an extra set of wheels for the Chili Pepper that look like "Gennies."

Great looking build. I was reading through the previous posts and hope that I'm not asking something that has already been addressed. What is your line of work? You look like a professional builder.

Well TC - I am very flattered. I bought my TIG welder a couple years ago and I learned how to TIG weld building my frame jig. I'm still looking to lay down that perfect row of nickels but I think I'll be chasing that a long time. I've been buying tools as I can afford them and learning as I go.

I am definately not a professional builder although I have been a car guy all my life. This is the first project of this magnitude that I have ever tackeled. I've had too many starts and stops and unfinished projects and I'm determined to get this one finished.

I make a living in management at Holley.

Many thanks Andrew - that's high praise coming from a Real Street Eliminator Champion! I am always well when I can get out in the garage and cut, weld, and grind on metal with the ultimate goal being a car I can drive and race. Hope you are well too.

Awesome build. I love 2dr Malibus, especially ones with LS/Tremec power combos. You've got some skills Tom, great job.
You happen to sell those frame/jig stands?

      Thanks Pro Pont and Tig.

Sorry Tig - I don't sell the frame/jig stands. I just made them up for my own use and now I'm trying to get the car done.
