      Crazy, stupid, or both?

Last year Best of Show and I decided we were going to try to make SEMA '09. We missed out by about three hours because of a bad brand new throwout bearing.

Over the course of this past year I got to do things like this:
(Image credit goes to Steve Rupp, thanks for the great shot)

Then as you might know from the only topic I've ever started on this site, this happened:

Now, because we're either crazy, stupid or both, we have decided to give this whole SEMA ordeal another shot, that's right...

Hope to see many of you this November

      Matt

Oh man best of luck to you guys. The car is going to be great if that hood is any indication.

Gorgeous car other than the whole right front. D'OH! Time to call up some site sponsors! Good luck and keep us posted.

DO IT! Nothing like a silly deadline just a few weeks away to light the fire. I would love to see this car in action again.

D!ck and I were talking over the weekend, and decided that since he's no Troy Trepanier and I'm no George Poteet, instead of going over to the bank to open a joint checking account, the two of us will go over to Costco to buy a joint cooler. The agreement will be that the cooler is to remain stocked with plenty of beer, and that when said cooler has a quantity of less than 10 beers it is to be automatically refilled at my expense. Steve, just name your favorite beverage and you'll find it at the shop next week.

Nothing better than a dose of insanity to get the fire going.
Git-er done! I hope you make it! You already had a car, now just execute the plan; again!

I love the idea!!! Especially since it won't be me having to make the deadline---LOL. You guys will make it---and as someone else mentioned, it gets the motivation going to get it done----D?ck is the man---if he can't do it, no one can. Really, if you need an extra set of hands bro, let me know--I'll take a day off work to help contribute to the thrash--would be fun.

Thanks for the offers to help guys. I think we should be in much better shape than last year. Last time we only had 2 1/2 weeks to get the car together (cut and buff, hard lines, glass, install dash, hang entire front end, exhaust, etc) so I think this year should be a bit easier since the car has already been together. If we're in real good shape the last weekend I think a bbq for the local crowd might be in order. I think I've got a lot of favors to start repaying!

Now, here are some pictures to get everyone caught up to roughly where we are now.

First, my help throughout this process is pretty much limited to taking thinks apart... lol. So I pulled the front end apart, and ordered a new subframe without waiting on insurance.

      New aluminum hood in progress:

New DSE subframe! I sprung for the shocks with remote reservoirs this time

We finally got the insurance check a couple weeks ago, and things have been moving at a breakneck pace ever since:

      This weekend:

      This week:
Wheels are over at Forgeline, I'm having one re-hooped to move it out a 1/2" and the other (pass. side) is being built as we speak. Big thanks goes out to Jon and Justin at Driverz inc.

I also owe Steve big time for running my rear axle all the way up to Sylmar so I can have a full floater built. I'll post more on how that goes later.

Currently the old subframe is being dropped, which might seem weird this late in the game, but we needed to have it under the car to help determine how much space was available for these pedals:

the pedals are now more or less in, and everything can more forward again. The next few weeks are going to get hectic... By the end though, we should have one hell of a car, and this time it should be a better driver's car than before.

Freakin' aweseome Matt. Love every move! I can't wait to hear feedback on the pedals and the details/pics on the floater...

I wish I'd stolen those pedals from you, but I got them from Summit, and have spent the last month buying all of the little stuff not included.

If we do get the car to SEMA you can sit in it, make engine noises and pretend to heel-toe downshift.

Budlight should use us for their new add campaign, because [I]here we go[I]

I know I said it before but that hood is going to look awesome Matt. Can't believe how much has been accomplished on the car already--very cool. So run down what's left---front sub, mount the rearend, final bodywork and paint (big stuff only here). I'm sure the things like getting the new pedals actually working, running new lines, etc will make for a much longer list. Keep us posted---will look forward to SEMA and seeing you and the car there.
