Thanks Scott! I need to get some better/newer shots of it. The guys spent another day working on it since the old photos were taken and now it's lookin' pretty sharp.

Here are today's pictures. **** got the front sheet metal on it so that Jon and Jesus could make sure the fenders were straight when fit to the car. From here I think it goes to the paint booth.

It is hard to tell how good the gaps are in pictures. They look solid to me, but D!ck wanted me to "make sure Doug sends down a can of good gaps ASAP."

Here's the daily update - We have paint! and an our warmed over engine came back. Basically it was a good day. D!ck also told me the lines on the hood are now crisp and straight. He didn't mention whether or not he had to resort to using the infamous panel gap spray though. Either way it is starting to look good.

that hood does looks pretty sharp. subtle yet rugged. if old spice had a hood in there commercials it would be that one.

what color did you chose? hard to tell in those photos if you stayed with the purple color or went with a charlcoal looking color.

Dude, great comment about the hood. That's hilarious. I decided to stay with the purple color. It would be hard for me to imagine the car any other color these days. I almost went charcoal gray the first time but couldn't find a non custom color I was happy with. Besides, everyone has gotten into gray recently.

Anyway, I've got a little update. The paint guys have been busy color sanding and buffing various parts of the car, and are hoping to be done Wednesday. Meanwhile **** has been busy installing parts that have come in. I love clean, functional, industrial design and the parts we've been getting certainly help accomplish the theme. I think these photos might help prove there might indeed be some beauty in functionality

I'm still waiting on my Forgeline wheels to get back. I was a little worried about what I'd do if they didn't get to us in time. However I'm not sure I even care about the old with all of the other ones I've been finding around the shop.

More pictures! The paint guys are looking to finish up everything save for the hood around Wednesday so that D!ck and Chris can move in and get the engine back together. We're hoping to have the car running a week from now, at the latest.

Here is the car pretty much ready to buff

I have to go back up to Speedway Engineering to have them build and weld brackets for the rear brakes, then the floater can go together. I've heard they can be a pain to sort out, but are amazing once they're working properly. Hope ours works properly from the get go.

On a side note, I just received paperwork from the at-fault lady's insurance company. They're a bit... slow. They still haven't determined that their driver was at fault, and have no idea that Hagerty has been hard at work on the claim. I think it could be fun telling the Mercury adjuster that Hagerty is going to be asking for 50k at the end of the year. I am certainly glad Hagerty will be asking instead of myself.

Well, a lot has happened in just a couple days. The full floater is back at Speedway having brackets made for the brakes, and will be ready Friday.

Meanwhile at the shop D!ck ran the hard lines for the brakes, everything came back from the powdercoater's, and the engine went back in. Oh and somewhere along the way the car got shiny again.

At some point soon, I believe you will not regret being hit by the errant Saturn--for me, that would be now-----love the upgrades Matt---hold onto your hat and bring a helmet----here's hoping that the optima boys ask you to attend the shootout on Sat-----

Tell ****, gaps approved---although it does appear he over applied the spray--the car looks too good--LOL

So the hood idea had been floating around for a while, and likely would have become a winter project. The pedals on the other hand wouldn't have happened otherwise. I asked **** about changing the pedals out before and he just looked at me and said, "yeah... no."

I still wish Saturn Lady had hit my Mustang. Although, I have become somewhat attached to it. Just my luck someone would hit it if it became collectable in 20 years.

Geez Matt, that's the hard way to go about getting the car to look freshly detailed top-to-bottom.
But, the car looks fantastic, and will have several more tweaks that you will really enjoy.
I really like the black calipers/rotors.

It might be the hard way, but as BOS also told Steve, "they turn out so nice because we do them twice."

Here is more progress from today. It won't be long now. Mostly because it can't be. what do we have, 9-10 days left?

The hood is finally done. I can't believe how many hours went into this hood. Everyone had to take turns working on it so no one got too worn out. I have a newfound respect for the commitment it takes for builders doing extensive custom metal work.

Can't believe I'm able to say this now, but I hope to see at least some of you guys next week.
