      Thanks Jimi,
That is exactly what I wanted to see. Our design involved the use of the Mustang lower control arms too, fabricating a K frame, and rack and pinion set up. Very ingenious setup. Thanks again, Ron

Got some sweet news on St. Patricks Day - the motor was dyno'd at Turn Key and put out 485 HP. Then they did the cam and valve spring swap and brought it to 525 HP. Both runs were with headers. Hoping with some good tuning from my buddies at West bend dyno after the install, we'll get to 550!

Randy at D&Z picks it up on the 28th!! I'm stoked!

Hey I love your project! My 69 looks similar, still have the original 390/4 speed in mine with a 2.87 rear gear for freeway cruising. I bought mine in the summer of '77, a year after I graduated high school. Not many people even know what motor is supposed to be in them anyway so just tell them its all stock.

Dam Jimi that's going to be a bullet in that light chassis.....

Congratulations buddy this is going to be one of the killer rides on the circuit this year.... You know I might just have to try stealing that little weapon from you one night at this rate (and you know all my RatPack side kicks will be right there beside me buddy).... ;-) LOL

I just got the news, the motor is shipping from Turn Key tomorrow and will arrive here next Monday. Randy is picking up the car this Sunday and will start the actual wrenching process on Monday as well! Both of these are ahead of the original schedule - I must be living right!

Albert, if the Rat Pack steals it, you'll all have to come out of the closet as AMC lovers!

Well it's been awhile since I posted any updates - seems I have the simple Facebook thing figured out and I've really never taken the time to figure out the easy way to post pics here! Here's a link to the build pics of the AMX-LS3, it's coming along nicely at Randy Johnson's D&Z Customs!

      http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...7&l=5fa72e162d

As you can see, we've changed the scope of the project a great deal. We are installing a complete custom front subframe and suspension system, four wheel floating disc brakes and a complete custom rear suspension system. We hope to be dialing it in about May and have it competitive by July! Be sure to sign up as a friend to follow along with the build!

What is the difference between the AMX and the javelin?? my dad has a 68 Javelin and I love that thing. Also are you building custom mounts or is there someone out there that has a mount kit for sale. Cant wait to see the progress on this thing.

      Great progress Jimi!

It looks like the AMX is gonna be a real performer... Great selection of components.

The fabrication work is top notch!

I'm looking forward to seeing this project complete!

The amx is 12" shorter than the javelin and is a two seat only configuration. They made just over 8000 of them from 68 thru 70. The amx was a separate model in those years as well. In 1971, amx became a trim package on the javelin. Everything under this car is custom, however, in the next few weeks, you might see a weld in conversion for the amc's hit the market.

Good for you Ron, I think they're awesome cars with a great look and you most likely won't see one in your neighbors driveway! If you're interested, I have the complete front suspension system that I removed from mine, pictured in the earlier posts, that I would make a you a really good deal on!

About time to post another update - and announce that we are working hard in order to debut the AMX at the Heidts Performance Car Challenge on July 15th (no pressure Randy!)

      http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...7&l=5fa72e162d

Randy has been doing the work of ten men over the last few months and we are starting to see some real progress and things are really coming together. We're also proud to announce - hang on to your hats...

The AMX will be prominently displayed at the 2011 SEMA show in the Centerforce booth!! We are really excited and want to thank Bryan, Will, Patrick and the entire team at Centerforce for the opportunity.

Ok, here's another update post - things are moving along nicely, but it doesn't look like the debut at the Heidts event is a reality at this point. Randy is doing heroic things to make this come together, but he's sometimes at the mercy of parts providers. It looks like we're only off of our completion goal by a few weeks. On a project of this scale, to miss by a few weeks is phenomenal, I've seen goals missed by years!

The motor and tranny are in and the rear end parts are all here. We're making some custom mounting brackets for the rear end and then it will all start to come together quickly.

I, for one, cannot wait to see this car when it's completed and you're doing the right thing, Jimi. Guess this means I'll have to make another trip out east ...
