Rupp has them on Bad Penny. Look great. Downside appears to be a somewhat expensive tool needed to remove them w/o damaging the hose. I've also heard of longer term failures.

Looks interesting? giant heat shrink...but how do you remove it? It wouldnt be a good idea on a car that you may modify frequently, trying different manifolds or what not.

me either, I use them wherever I can, never had a failure. I have removed them many times without a special tool.

A razor knife will do it.

When I removed my manifold, I was able to leave them on and just unbolt the housing. I then just twisted the hose setup up out of the way and then twisted it back when done and it took it well and hasn't leaked yet. I was ready to replace it and thought what the heck ,let's see if it works? Not a drop has ever leaked out from one of the fittings after it got hot for the first time.

The tool is not that expensive and works very well.

I too will never use another type of clamp if the Gates part will work. If for nothing else my forearms appreciate not being shish-kabob'ed by traditional hoses.

McMaster-Carr has the best selection and lowest prices.

When using a razor knife to remove them you can buy hooked blades for cutting roofing shingles or flat type stock that will make it easier to not cut into your hose.

Been using them for quite awhile with no negative issues. To remove I simple slip a small flat blade under the clamp for some clearance and cut with side cutters.

Has anyone used them for multiple years (3-4+) w/o removal? Just curious.

I have them on my Camaro and will use them on my Nova and El Camino when I'm ready to hook up the radiator hoses. They work great.

That looks awesome. So how exactly do you remove them? You guys say cutting, but what are you cutting? The hose or the "clamp"?

How are you guys reusing them if you have to cut them to remove them?

I bought the tool, but have removed many of them without it. You cut the shrink clamp, not the hose. The hose is reuseable, but not the clamp, one use only.
