Ditto. I'm waiting for a proven design to surface from Rick's. I've been closely following this thread and the latest custom tanks from Mark Stielow and Rick's / Hector. Once one of these designs proves to solve the starvation problems under high g's down to at least 1/8th of a tank, I'll place my order and gladly pay significantly more for it.

Mark has it figured out but you won't get his tank. That's on your coin...

      Rick's Tank UPDATE

Finished install...I will try and post some pics this weekend..

Initial test last night seems very promissing running on only 2 gallons. Went around two freeway 270* on-ramps at med speed without issue. Since it was heavy traffic and passenger turbo smoking, I didn't get to full test speed. So far I'm Happy! other then needing to change my turbo..DOH

Thanks for the feedback, and keep it coming!

Sorry to hear about the smoking turbo.

Well I was hoping it was only the turbo...Turned out to be much..much more.

Cylinder #2 died on the last Willow Springs outing. Fuel tank testing will need to be postponed a couple months...Sorry everyone...I really feel it's going to work too.

      OUCH!!

If it was..I didn't hear it or feel it...

I guess way too much power on a 103 degree day with 91 pump gas.

I will be lowering my compression ratio a little. I also found that it got into the heads a little. Hopefully salvagable?

If not, this may be the time to jump over to a Wegner LS7...

What compression ratio were you running at? 103 degrees and 91 octane are all we have in Arizona!

I run a Ricks tank with the ZL1 pump and these corner pick-ups. No complaints here…I’ve ran the car at the road course and drag strip.

........and this is why forums will always be better than Facebook or other similar social media outlets. 17 years, easily found, and still relevant in Pro-Touring.com

Any tank design that utilizes a modern OEM fuel module design will out-perform a similar baffled tank in low liquid level conditions. GM, Ford, Mopar, etc. the design for the modern returnless fuel pump modules are basically the same.

Another advantage is the ZL1 pump has an internal final filter. When used with the vaporworx controller no external regulators, return lines, or filters are needed. It is highly recommended to NOT run an inline filter with any modern fuel module except the later Ford GT500 and some Mopars (Demon, TRX, etc.)

What modifications does the Camaro tank need to fit the chevelle? have a 69 that is getting a panhard bar among other things.

Though technically no, there may be a practical reason.

Let's say down the road the fuel system starts acting funky. What comes to mind? The fuel filter. So doing your due diligence the inline filter is replaced thinking it may be the issue. However, the inline filter will be very clean since the in-module fine element filter is the one that has become plugged.

So, not only was there the initial cost of the filter + fittings, now there is the replacement cost of the filter, all of which is not needed. In many cases the cost of a nice billet inline filter and fittings is more expensive than a new complete GM fuel module.

Add in that 10 years from now (brain fade ;-) ), or if someone else is working on the car, the finger gets pointed at the non-problem clean inline filter.

In some cases, inline filters have an internal check valve. This check valve will cause a heat-soak overpressure condition during hot key-off. Had a customer with a super nice black GTO that had this happen away from home with the car not starting due to excessive fuel pressure. While unloading the car from the trailer one of the front fenders was damaged. The installed fuel filter had a check valve. Seems so simple, but it's sometimes the little things that get us.

Hmmm, it would be nice to clean it up, it’s a Russell billet AN filter. It’s only 3” in diameter but it bulky
