As far as I can tell, there is no upgrade path for either the Sniper or the FiTech, and as I said, the ECUs need not be very sophisticated because they are simple batch fire systems.

There is however an upgrade path for the Terminator TB system, because of the HP ECU, hence the higher price.

Say you have an older SBC (or whatever) and want EFI, but don't want to invest in a multi point system (because this requires a lot of hardware), but you think that down the line you may want to do a LS swap. With the Terminator you will be able to reuse the HP ECU, get the LS harness, and run a LS engine in full sequential mode. That's the advantage and why you pay extra for the Terminator TB system. That's the value in the grand scheme of things.

If, however, you know that all you want to do is run your old school engine, maintain the older look with the air cleaner in the center of the intake manifold, then the Sniper, the FiTech, or the Atomic will work. Incidentally, the Atomic system is way more expensive than the FiTech or the Sniper, so I am not sure that it's a direct competitor.

Yeah, as far as I can tell the Atomic does nothing more or better than the FiTech or Sniper systems. Don't know why it or similar set-up's would even be considered at current pricing.

For me the price was the first thing. I was going to go to the Fast2 system, but I could not see spending that kind of money. I plan on my test drive this weekend,if it would just stop raining....lol

Scott - If you find time would you check on the data logging feature? Curious as to how it works and what info is covered.

      Thanks,

Enjoying this thread, to me EFI is like a hot rod engine. Once you get into it you can never get enough... I started with EFI way back when and quickly learned I wanted more. First I wanted wideband, then more I/O (than just fans), then pwm control, then transmission control etc. I am agreeing that competition is a great thing and we all benefit from it.
I always look forward to updates on this thread.

I don't think anyone here suggested a consumer would or should choose an Atomic or Terminator over the FiTech or Sniper EFI. But from a purely economic stand point in today's EFI market that would be rather foolish. I installed an Atomic TB EFI about two years ago and have been very happy with the performance. However, the FiTech was not yet on the market at the time so it was not even an option for me. Back then, all the TB EFI systems on the market carried a retail price in the $2500 range. With the release of the FiTech EFI for under $1000 retail the aftermarket EFI landscape has completely changed. Today, if I were in the market for a TB EFI system I would likely pass on the Atomic and go with the FiTech based on the retail price and apparent quality. These days EFI systems are not rocket science and it is no secret how they work so it should not be a surprise that a new company has decided to enter the aftermarket at a reduced price point. I think the take away here is that as long as all the competition was selling their various EFI systems for essentially the same price there was no reason for Holley to offer the Sniper system they had in the works. But once FiTech entered the market with a sub $1000 system the game changed and Holley now has no choice. I predict you will see all the remaining aftermarket EFI manufacturers coming out with $1000 systems in the very near future. I think FiTech has just released a "Better Mouse Trap".

I got my 8 injector FiTech in today..Now I need to order a new aeromotive EFI tank and pump set up and make some new fuel lines..It will be going into a 56 Chevy with currently a ZZ502/502.

Have you looked into the heat issue some on here have had with that tank? I am not sure if it was resolved or not. I am in the process of installing a vaporworx setup in my 66 Nova tank using a Camaro pump.

It's only "better" for very specific applications (for people that have older engines that don't want to upgrade the engine hardware for multi-point injection, want a traditional look, and want some of the advantages of EFI).

I would never consider the FiTech or the Sniper, or even the Terminator TBI for any sort of high HP (over 700) or forced induction applications. I have seen the individual cylinder AFR distribution of various single and dual plane manifolds and it is really ugly. TBI suffers from all of the issues that carburetors have when it comes to air/fuel distribution. Multi-point systems are much better because it is easier to design a good manifold strictly for air distribution and have the fuel injected close to the intake valve.

They're releasing a multiport setup in late january. $1750 for a 550hp kit, $1950 for a 1050hp kit. Sequential fire and it comes with your choice of edelbrock efi manifold and fuel rails along with everything else needed. I'm sure an LS kit is around the corner somewhere.

I wonder if the sfi system can work with engines that aren't the norm like my nailhead. granted there is no manifold made but a full system beside and use my cast iron could work. I don't think a ls system is a big concern since the oem ls has all the mpfi set up and is much cheaper to use.

A LS engine has all the hardware, but if you don't have a harness or ECU, it isn't exactly "cheap." The GMPP harness and ECU kits are over $1000.

well I was considering from a junk yard standpoint. plenty of ls truck you could get ecm and harness for basically nothing. has to be tuned of course but there are pretty cheap tuner companies out there now.

      Nick,
Where did you find that info? I did not see anything on the FiTech web site. I have been considering making a switch to multiport EFI and I'm interested.

The multi-point systems are referenced in the bottom of this article.

I saw some talk about a multiport system and called them. They confirmed and told me a little about it
