Finished up the Hydra-boost installation yesterday, and I will start to tackle the new gauge wiring today.

Cleared a small hurdle today. All of the wire harness's have been installed, and the car did not catch on fire when I started it. I had to adjust the starter wires, and the neutral safety switch, but other than that everything worked fine.

Long story here guys. 5 years ago, when I paid an alleged "Body/Paint guy to redo my GTO, I got sold a bill of goods (no other way to put it). 2 years after he did the body work and paint, the paint started to bubble up, and I don't mean your typical little rust under paint bubbles. Anyway, one afternoon, I decided to get out my hand grinder and see for myself what the idiot did. I discovered that instead of the guy taking the time to correctly align the panels with shims, and panel tweaking, all he did was bondo everything to line up. I swear he increased the weight of my car by 100#'s . When the current guy came to look at the car, I showed him where I removed the paint, and just how thick the bondo was. All he could do was scratch his head, because he and I neither one could figure out why the previous guy had done what he did. So, two weeks ago, I removed all of the front end sheet metal and took it to the new shop. The new guy removed all of the paint, and found a layer of at least 1/2-3/4" of bondo on at least 80% of both fenders :o. Today I get a phone call from the new guy, and he told me that he removed the paint and bondo from the doors , and with a 6.00 box of shims, the fenders and doors fit, and matched damn near perfect. He will have to pull the drivers door forward just a smidge to even up the gap, but that is nothing. I took a couple of pictures. I am so pleased that the car is at a real body/paint shop. The next hurdle is to get the hood, and endura bumper fitting correctly.

Checked on the goat this morning. the shop got the drivers door moved forward just a little, so the gap now is balanced. The body guy peeled a piece of paint off of the hood that had bubbled up and handed it to me. Most of you probably already know this, but paint thickness should be somewhere between 4-6 mils thick. When the guy peeled the paint off, there was still a layer of primer left on the hood. I brought the piece back to the office with me and mic'd it. This car had been completely blasted and was starting with bare metal when the first jack-wagon got it. I will let pictures do the talking.

      25 mils

I have had the hardest time settling for the "One Color", "NO Graphics" paint scheme that I thought I wanted. I pulled out a 69 GTO Model, and did some painting today. The real car would have a black line separating the Atomic Orange and Silver

      Any thoughts?, Comments?

I think thats an awesome idea. I actually love orange (Astros color) and those colors together will be, atleast IMO fantastic.
Do you plan to have the little design effect thingy thats over the rear wheel on the actual car.

My personal preference is for a solid color.

Great use of a model kit! I'd stick with the one color myself. Just curious, what was the factory color?

JMO but when I see a 2 tone car like that it makes me think of Overhaulin and Chip Foose circa 2005

Bumping this for more comments. This is a very rough rendition. What about flipping the colors?

I'd stay with one color myself. Either sliver or orange, but not both.

I'll bet you're excited to have the car back painted. Sucks to hear about the previous paint guy.

Sorry for the slow trickle guys, but parts are coming in 1, and 2 at a time. If you are tired of me posting like this, let me know and I will cut back and wait for more substantial posts.

Today was a good day, my "Tall" spindles arrived.
