      The stand ended up being for a friggin big block, so it's sort of in the stand and still held by the cherry picker.

      Got it out with one chain diagonal across the driver and passenger side heads. Came out smooth.

      Strange. Most engine stands are kind of "universal" and can be adjusted.

      Well, this one isn't what I'd call a "stand". It's a cube of square steel welded together with stops on both sides of where the engine sits. The engine can roll around between the stops, I put some soft wood on both sides to stop it from rolling. It really doesn't "seem" safe.

      What you've got sounds like an engine "cradle" and not an "engine stand".
