      Project Bumblebee (New pics Update)

This is my car, I've been on the site for a few weeks now and I figured I should post up some pics. lol I'm a 23 year old college kid on a budget and I've been working on it since the day I bought it last year. Its came a long way and I'm pretty proud of the progress I've put in it. I'm not a Chevy man at all but I came across this car for a hell of a deal, I was acutally looking for a 5.0 Mustang to tell you the truth but I've fallen in love with it and I'm having a blast building her up and I hope kids fall in love with it too at the shows. BTW, I'm building her up to look like the Bumblee from Transformers. I think kids would flip. lol

Its got a fresh Chevy 350 with around 5000 miles
World Product Sportsman II heads 2.020''x1.600''
Manley Street-Flo forged steel valves intake,1.600''exhaust, 11/32''x7 hardened steel locks.
Hardened steel guideplates.(heads were about 1000)
      Hardend Pushrods
      Lunati cam .515/.515, duration 246/246 @ 050''1.6 rockers
Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap intake.
Holley 750 Double Pumper with Pro Form Main body
      KandN Xtream air filter
      16" Electric fan
      CSR Electric Water Pump
Dyno-Max ceramic coated headers with 3'' piping
Flowmaster Super+40 series dumped before the axle.
      Accel distributor
      Accel wires
A fresh Turbo TH350 trans less than 500 miles
      TCI Street Fighter stall converter
      Shift kit B&M Megashifter.
Stock rear with 4.56 gears, chrome cover,
Traction control bars / subframe connecters/air shocks.
      4'' fiberglass cowl induction hood.
      Chrome bumpers.
Prime chrome wheels with new tires rear 295/60/15's.
Interior was somewhat gutted has leather racing seats with 5 point harness and a roll cage, Autometer gauges built in dash monster tach w/shift light has a JVC cd player, and door hinges were replaced.

I bought a Nitrous Kit from Harris Speed Works. I also got the DUAL purge kit from NOS and an Earls nitrous gauge to go with it. I also bought a new dash from Year One, and a full weather strip kit. It includes door jams, windows and trunk. New power steering pump, new brake booster, and Crane Cam vacuum resivoir tank. New custom made aluminum door panels, new water resivoir tank, and an electric vacuum pump for power brakes, a Grant steering wheel and Transformers Autobot horn. (just like in the movie), and a trunk battery relocation kit with the aluminum box and heavy duty cut off switch and a Covans Dash gauge kit.

      Before:

Cleaned up the engine a bit, it was horrible when I got it. Grease every where!! It actually looks better now. I have many new chrome or polished parts that need to be installed. Waiting to it to be painted first.

Getting primered last week. Sorry for the crappy pics, used my phone. lol

Like I said, I hope you liked it and if you have any tips or suggestions or if you plain just hate it, let me know. Thanks.

Looks good! My only thought to help clean up the look would be to change the bumpers somehow...? Remove the black molding and narrow them so they are tighter to the body maybe.

Maybe somebody has done that before.

...now if only you could find a way to make it transform into an 09' camaro like in the movie...

As for the bumpers, G/28 had it done and it looks great. I'm still looking for an "how-to" for this. I dont want to ruin it as my guinie pig. lol

Today, I took a pic but I'm not happy with the color. I'm having them repaint it again but I'm looking for the EXACT paint code of the color of the one for the movie. Any help?

I believe the color was custom mixed for the car. Saleen built that car, the 09 camaro and of course the mustang "barricade" for the movie. I'd call Saleen and ask them what color it was, they'll probably tell you.

It'll have to be "custom faded" still though.

I have a '77 I'm working on right now that is The faded yellow of that car. The paint code is WA 51. The name is bright yellow. It's lighter than what your car just got painted. I painted a car that color a few years ago and couldn't get them to mix it in Dupont. I found a shade of yellow in a Dupont book that matched perfect. I just matched the '77 paint chip to the dupont book. I'll see if I have the newer code around.

Awesome that would be great. ^ I read that Bright Yellow 51 was the color that was used but when I look at it in the books it looks REAL light in paint chips/codes.

Hey Tony, thanks for the pics and links. I tried getting in contact with Hasbro/Transformers/and GM and no one knows a thing. That sounds like a good idea to call Saleen.

The Dupont number is Specramaster yellow YS383K. That color matched exactly with an unfaded part of the car.

Thanks for the confidence. I've had a few guys thinking I'm stupid. But I promise I'll give the Bumblebee justice.

I think the reason people kinda dont believe in me is because they havent seen the work thats been put into the car. I have over 20+ boxes of parts that need to be installed. Right now the car is only 1/2 complete. I expect to have the car done by next month. After that, I'll start saving for my suspension set up.

Is it? I hope not. That looks like it has a lil orange in it.

Hey Hilrod, I took the code over to both paint mixers here in my town and neither could mix that code up for me. Why? I was like WTF? lol After looking like a fool in front of both places I decided on Daytona Yellow.

Should look like this. I got the code from a 69 Yenko Camaro.

I hope it looks this good in the end
