      Paint has begun

Trunk, Engine Bay, Door Jambs... oh my! Car before mine in the booth was yellow. The car next up is yellow. No, this is not Wisconsin.

Stopped by the shop this morning after Cars and Coffee. Turned on the lights, took some pictures. Alec approves of the paint.

How much longer will it be at RCC? Are you taking it home to finish, leaving it there, or farming out some of the assembly? I want to see it before you haul it away.

Tomorrow they will do the bottom with the same color mixed with a bed liner material. Then they will paint the doors, fenders, trunk lid, hood, header panel, valance other odds and ends parts. Then they will paint the outside / top of the body. First the stripes, then the green, then the clear. After that I assume cut and buff. Probably be there for another two weeks. I will post pictures. PM me your number, remind me what your name is again, and I can text message you when it is at whatever stage you want to see. At the end it may be there a day or so before I take it home. The only part from this point forward I am farming out is the headliner install, some of the trim polish, the front windshield install and rear glass. I will do all the mechanical and assembly myself with my two sons. In a prior life I was an ASE certified master tech and have plenty of experience working on cars, just never learned any of the body / paint side of things.

No updates because you're busy assembling, right?

Busy waiting for paint. About a week to go at this point. After I get it home it will be busy waiting for me to find time to work on it and busy waiting for me to come up with money to buy parts.

We are both moving at a snails pace, since we are both budget limited it will be quite the "race" to the finish. Your car may have paint... but mine will soon enough and I am an engine and transmission ahead of you overall. But you can probably buy a crate LS3 for the cost of my EFI computer and harness, and you already have pretty wheels, so $-wise we are probably close to even on our distance to the finish line.

Yeah... be careful what you ask for there. I had a pair of 3-1/2 year olds when I moved here. The following summer I found some time to work on the car and we even took it to the race track. We went to Disney World for their fifth birthday. Magically - eight months later we had a third child, my second boy. When he was about a year old I stopped driving the car because I needed to repair the wiring harness. After he turned four my older son, now eleven, and I started disassembling the car for paint. My youngest is now five. At this rate we are hoping to have the car driving the summer he turns seven.

I have everything for my car but the following:

      Front seats
      engine
      trans
      driveshaft
      fuel lines
      brake lines
      rear ebrake
      speakers/ cd player
      vintage air
      battery relocation kit
Everything else i have sitting upstairs

Pretty much when I'm ready to pull the trigger on a killer engine/ trans deal i will go full force on it. Im really starting to lean towards dropping a ls1/t56 in there so i can get it on the road.

Because I have a 440 with a Super Stock Weiand Tunnel Ram Six Pack Intake with the same EFI as the 508 in the video. And I already have the T56 also. The LS1 iceman is referring to is for his Camaro.

See the following for pictures of the engine in the car:
