We can bring some catalogs to RTMC to help you choose your wheels or whatever else your looking at...

From looking at the Rick's website I don't think the capacity is any greater.

It doesn't hang below the housing, but it is close. I'll get better pictures soon. Here's a side view though.

That would be great. Be thinking about rims, rear axle, and shocks.

I crawled under it last night to tighten all the exhaust flange bolts and the paint still looks great.

Turns out that it is about an inch lower than the rearend housing. Probably wouldn't be if we still had a standard anti-swaybar. It looks to be even with the mufflers and lower coilover mounts. I'm not really worried about it being too low, if something hits it we've already had other bigger problems.

How's your wagon doing? Ready for the PT season?

      Here's another picture

It doesn't look SO bad in that side shot. For some reason it looks much lower from the back. I would love to see it out in the sunlight...to get another look at the tank (pffff...like I'm an expert or something) and to get another look at the ride height/stance.

Side view, 3/4 front and 3/4 rear if you take requests!

The 66 gets its first auto-x experience with the LS

Saturday Kaytlin, Sam and I took the wagon and 66 to the local SCCA novice/instructional auto-x day. Kaytlin had a blast in the wagon and the 66 was even more fun to drive than last year. I knew the added power and lighter weight would be noticeable, but I never thought it would be night and day, and it was... I was hoping to have pictures, but with Kaytlin and I driving and Sam working the cones it wasn't in the cards. Maybe one of the SCCA guys will come through with some.

Before going we had both cars aligned since they some suspension work done over the winter. We opted for more camber since we'll be thrashing them pretty hard this year. The one problem we identified as soon as we had the car back on the road was the manual brakes. I went with a stock GM 15/16" master cylinder and had great pedal, but crazy hard effort to bring it to a stop. So, after consulting the experts we decided to go with the Wilwood 7/8" bore master. I really wanted the all black one, but I was too cheap to splurge for the extra $40 so we went with the "natural" finish and black lid. Update soon on how well it works...

I think I stated earlier that my brother who works for a rubber and gasket company was working on making real exhaust gaskets for our flanges. Here's the nearly completed die he made. He's coming down next weekend for birthdays and he should be bring the final product with him.

Awesome - I'm glad the car did well in its first outing. I can't wait to see it run in a few weeks!

I'm sorta ready to go, Tom. I've got a couple small things I want to do, but I could run as-is until the latest upgrades are done. Hope to see you and the family soon!

Putting the car through its paces

Here's a short video of the car (along with Sam and I) on the front stretch of Nashville Superspeedway. During the two morning sessions I just didn't feel comfortable really pushing the car or myself. When the timed laps came in the afternoon I dug up a bit more courage and improved my times and top speed substantially. Bottom line, we tied Stacy Tucker for tenth place for the whole event. Might just be a fluke, but the car feels great and we continue to have a lot of fun with it!

I don't think it is a fluke at all. You are racking up some seat time and getting the car dialed in. The car looked great in the AutoX and on the big track.

Tom, the Chevelle (and family) looked great! You guys did a nice job on the LS conversion. In fact, you did such a nice job that we're thinking it might be time for the El Camino to get a LS make over! See what you started?

After Dakota Digital really took care of us with technical help and senders during the engine swap, they invited us to sit in front of their booth at Power Tour, Indy. Kind of a big deal for us and great guys to hang out with!

Here's a video of Deb and Sam heading south on I-65 on the way to Chevellabration today. Good times!
