After banging, bending and scratching my spoiler, I finally got a new one. This one is an improvement over the last in that it's a lot easier to take on and off, it has a center mounted intake for the brake cooling ducts, and it has a splitter. It's still bare aluminum, debating on leaving it that way or painting it. What do you think?

I think it looks great! Would like to see it painted though. Now, about your old spoiler.......

      The shape looks great Herb!

I keep thinking it would look better if it was painted... Maybe the vertical areas painted blue and the splitter portion painted a darker color to better tie in with the hood.

It's definitely a personal preference. I'm sure it would look just as good either way.

I'll probably paint the vertical surface gunmetal like the previous spoiler and the splitter matte black.

Thanks for the compliments, I'm pretty happy with it! Oh, and one more thing, since I like to go to Maxton for LSR, this spoiler is quickly removed and a different one can be attached that sits approximately 1.75" off the deck! I'll put it on and post a pic.

The spoiler looks great. Can you offer any tips on how you made the frame for the grill that covers the brake duct opening?

Well first of all, I have to give credit where credit is due. A little chassis shop near me called Piper Motorsports built the spoiler using my drawings. The frame for the grill is a piece of stainless sheet metal that was cut to fit. The screen is also stainless but everything else is aluminum.

Here's a view of the flange that stays on the bumper allowing me to switch between spoilers...

This is the Maxton spoiler (without the splitter)...

And here's a rear view of the street/road course spoiler...

Oh, and one more thing... thanks to Frank and Lisa at Prodigy, in about 4 weeks, the Chevelle will be sporting a set of these bad boys:

AWESOME selection on the wheels Herb! That's the same wheel I'm going with also. Frank is suggesting I go with the "brushed" lips with the Matte/Satin Black centers.

The RT-615K is an awesome tire! I just wish they'd make a 335-345 series tire... They stop at the 315 series! I'd have a front tire but no size to fit the rear. That should be the PERFECT tire for you for the P-T functions!

I can't wait to see them on your car! :

Your spoiler has given me so many ideas for mine, I would love a better picture of the flange on the bumper. Mine is a grill blockoff also so it will be a little different design but alot of it will still apply but your design is very thought out. Here is a picture of the begining of mine it is mounted to the grill support connected to the core support and will have a frame behind it to stiffen the whole thing up. My radiator is rear mounted so there isnt a need for airflow.

Herb the spoiler looks great! Those wheels and tires will really look good on the car, I wish they sold a 335 tire for my app.

Looks like you will be loaded for bear at Maxton. All we need now is no rain, cool air and a bit of tailwind. Is that too much to ask for? See you guys on Wed.

I've been running the RT-615s on our C-5 for the lat 4 years and they are a great tire for the money. Also have them on the front of the '66 convertible. They wear pretty good and are great in the rain.
What sizes are you going with on your Chevelle?

I'm working on the car today so I'll take some more pictures of the flange for you. The nice thing about this design is once it's all bolted together, it creates a box and doesn't need any other supports.

It's kinda hard to see in the pictures I posted, but there are two block off plates for the rectangular openings in the bumper. I'll use racer's tape to cover up the grille, the engine runs cool regardless.

I had the same issue when looking for 200 treadwear tires. One brand would have the size I needed for the front but not the back and vice/versa.

Hey Chris, like I said to Matt above, I had a hard time finding the right front/rear sizes in a 200 treadwear; the RT-615K had what I wanted. I went with 255/40-18 and 295/40-18. The SP3Ps and BFGs will go on the El Camino.

      Nice wheels and tires!

Have they release the calender for the 2011 ECTA schedule @ Maxton yet?
