I was going to ask if your Mr. Roven was in any way related to Mr. Ventura . . . . . . bonus points to whoever finds the other suspect "word" first (that should get you a few extra "reads", Chris).

Ron - that video sounded awfully smooth and looked pretty good through the little left-right kink coming off the start. Most novices in high-HP entries that I've seen are much more "point and shoot/stab and steer" about their driving from one course feature to the next. I know you can't possibly have had a whole lot of hard cornering seat time in the Muttstang yet.

wow....have seen this thread for a long time but assumed as a 5G build it would for sure be a Fox body which doesnt really interest me a whole lot......1.5 hrs later this is the build that is most like mine!.....used race parts, putting a body on a different frame, tires hanging out, truck arms...and the big thing, budget!......very cool build Ron, youve really got some skills......

One thing.....Im going to have to cut the whole (chitty) floor out of the chevelle and put it up and over the race car.....was your body very flimsey and scary at that point?, theres not going to be much there.....how many guys did you have helping?

This is one of the coolest builds I have seen.

It amazes me about the budget to begin with but the end results are outstanding.

All that thrashing on the car, left my wife alot of time to develop a honey due list that a team of well skilled craftsmen would run from.So I've been catching at home.I got the trans in tonight, drove it for the first time, feels good, shifts like butter compared to the Muncie, and the overdrive is a dream.I was going to put the L92 motor ,but it has a 4bbl efi type intake and will take some time to get the tune right, and most of all they backordered a couple of parts I needed to complete the install.I'm going to finish the wiring, get the bugs out of the brakes, and put it on the trailer for Michigan.(sounds fimiliar) Ron

No magazines yet.I would like to have a little more time to clean up some of the panel adjustments and wet sand and reclear the thing. When I do the engine swap I'll do under the hood alot nicer, but for this summer I'm just going to beat the crap out of the thing. You wouldn't believe how many paint chips are on this thing already,1500 miles on an open trailer (never good).I really love the thing though,I don't worry about anything.Just drive the wheels off it, just as I planned.Ron

You have to love a car

with no tach....just shift when it bounces off the rev limiter.

whaaaaaaaaaaaa, wha, wha, wha, (shift) whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I forgot to ask. Since you are running the truck arm with the weight jacks, did you set it up so you could adjust the track bar as well?

Thanks for the link to the video. It looks great running the cones, it looks like it is almost too wide for the track. The exhaust note sounds nice too. It has been cool to watch this build.

Its a good thing I set the rev limiter at 6500 rather then 7500 like I normally do,or I may have been sweeping up metal debris off the track, as many times as I was banging on it.Man do those LS motors rev quick!! I bought this high dollar (at least for this car) track bar mount, which doesn't use a jack screw, you still have to go under the car to adjust it,but its pretty easy. Now that all the springs have settled out, I can set my ride height and adjust the panard hopefully for the last time, and be good for a while. It will probably take all next winter to clean up all the loose ends and spruce up all the rough edges.I kinda feel sorry for the poor car, because I only see abuse in its future. Haven't had 5 minutes to look at this car, have been researching a solution to the braking issues. Just bought this set of Baer 15" rotor,6 piston Alcon built brakes off the Corvette Forum.New in the box for $1500.I have to come up with something for the back, and order wheels (CCW'S I guess).I guess the budget goes out the window when you really want to be competitive.
