      Cocktail Shakers

I have hotchkis welded in SFC as well as a DSE quadralink, solid frame bushings. I want to get rid of the dead weight from the shakers. Is my car stiff enough where I won't have problems or should I keep them? Being a street car I have no plans for a roll cage at this point.

yes with the sub frame connectors you can skip the shakers....you should also upgrade the factory chassis stiffener with one of the after market ones from Hotchkis or BMR the factory one was way to thin

Thanks Rod I have the Hotchkis cross brace as well, but from I understand it's not the stiffness it's the vibration and harmonics that dampeners help with. Looking to hear for some real world experience from some vert owners that have removed them.

it is the stiffness, the uni-body had to much flex and that created the vibrations, that was the reason for the extra brace under the car and the shakers.... I worked in the restoration industry for 8 years, then I worked at a Vintage speed shop for a few more, before moving completely into the performance industry the last few, and now I maintain camaro car collection as well as work on a race team

      heres that collection

Shakers were a CHEAP fix by GM to solve harmonic's issues with the "Hurry Up and Get to Market Mustang Alternative" called the Camaro. The shakers are gone on the front of most 1 gen Camaro's/Firebird convertibles due to accident damage as they were not replaced. The car was still road and drove OK and their owner's did not know the difference as by then it was and still is "Just An Old Car"!

The shakers are specific for each corner on a Camaro and are specific for each corner on a Firebird. The fronts are different between the Camaro and Firebird. The function is the same and the appearance is very similar it's the mounting brackets that are different. By the way the shakers typically weight 25 lbs. each and are full of oil.

Shakers originated on the Corvair to solve the harmonic driveability issues. Corvair technology applied to the F Body to reduce a similar harmonic's problem that was perceived to be not acceptable to customers. Not all solutions are "High Tech" at GM.

      Especially in the 1960's!

Shakers sell good IF the mounting brackets are still in good condition. $75-$150 each. Front's are worth more than rears and Camaro shakers are worth more than Firebird shakers.

Thats a nice collection of Camaros!! I think the solid bushings and SFC would have more of a positive effect than the cross brace.

PS looks like that collection could use a vert
