      LS2 Help

So I finally picked up an LS2 out of an '07 trailblazer. It came with an LS6/Z06 intake/DBC TB as well as all the front accessories from the Z06 and coils. First question is does anyone have a diagram or build thread on how these accessories go (I don't even know if it came with all the correct brackets). Second question is; What emissions stuff can I take/block off (it's going in a '68 firebird) and again does anyone have a build thread on this? Last question; I pulled off the old coils and intake and loosely put on the Z06 intake and coils. I plan on painting the motor and everything is either dirty or greasy. My question is, what is the best way to clean it all up including the valley pan w/o getting water/degreaser/filth in the combustion chambers. Keep in mind that this motor will not fire for at least a few months if that matters. Thanks for the help!

Is the motor a 58x or 24x? I know 07 was transition year on a lot of the motors. If its a 58x and you use a cable tb, I believe you need to make a few ecm changes to make it work. You can remove all the emissions stuff. If you google image C5 corvette acc drive you'll get a ton of pics and most likley a diagram. I use a degreaser and a scrub brush to clean it. A little tedious depending on how much grime there is.

It is a 58x. I plan on selling all the old trailblazer stuff and buying a new ecm and harness from PSI.

There is no such thing as a 58x engine that used a cable TB. All 58 tooth engines have a DBW throttle body.

The engine is a 58x. The intake is from an LS6 and came with a drive by cable TB. PSI has a harness and ecm to facilitate that.

The only way they can do that is to use the older 411 ECU and a 58x to 24x converter box. Personally, I see no reason to do that, just to use a cable TB. The DBW TBs work great.

They can take care of it, I see the option on their website, but as I said, why would you want to do it that way?

If I had a LS2 I would run the LS2 intake and DBW throttle body and use either the E38 or the E40 ECU.

Just out of curiosity what would make you pick one way over the other?

Which part are you referring to exactly? The cable TB vs. DBW?

What's the history of this engine? It sounds like you have an odd mix of parts with the engine being from a Trailblazer SS, but having LS6 intake, etc...

      LS2 Help

I got an LS2 out of an 07 trailblazer SS. It has the gray crank sensor and the E67 ECM, DBW TB and complete front truck accessories. I have the pedal and the complete wiring including fuse box. The guy I bought it from threw in an LS6 intake with drive by cable TB and after doing some research he said the accessories were from a vette but they are from an FBody. He threw that stuff in to get rid of the bulky and not very attractive truck intake and accessories. In order to make the DBC TB work I would have to convert from the 58x to 24x with the converter box which I don't want to do. Is the LS2 intake better than the LS6 or would it be comparable to run the LS6 intake with a DBW TB? It's also looking like I will need to buy a different pedal too.

Are you going to run manual or auto trans?

Here is what I would do, I'm sure others might have different opinions.

I'd sell the LS 6 intake. They bring good money. I would get a LS 2 car intake and 90mm throttle body. I'd reuse the truck alternator by using the Holley brackets, and swap to a Corvette style balancer and water pump. Use the E67 ECU and have a harness made for it matching to a car LS2 engine. Get a pedal from a 2008 Impala SS with the 5.3L engine (about $60) at the dealer.

      Done.

Any sponsors on here rework harnesses anymore? Most of them are only selling new stand alone harness.

I don't believe anyone reputable is reworking harnesses anymore. The reason is that it's time consuming and for just a little more money you can have a new harness made to your specs.

None here, but I believe Todd @ S&S Performance still does rework. It might be easier to just sell what you have and buy new.

As stated above, the only way to go Drive By Cable on a 58x engine is to use the Lingenfelter TRG002 to convert the signal back. That usually costs $260 for that, then you have to purchase a DBC throttle body and PCM. That gets pretty expensive.

As with other companies, we discontinued our rewire service. They are just so time consuming, plus most of the time now we have new harnesses in stock. No waiting for a turnaround time.

If you look at selling your harness you will see that most Gen IV harnesses will sell for $150 to $200 if they are in good shape. You put that with the shipping for the rewire, thats probably $175-$250 ish that you can put twords a new harness. We charged $300 for the base rewire if you take that and add on what you saved/sold you are really close to our base new harness at $550. At that point there is no reason not to get a new harness and be done with it!

i have the exact same engine. I ended up buying the holley ecu and harness kit so that i can run my cable throttle body and not buy a ligenfelter conversion box. for brackets for the accessories i went with lssimple stuff. everything has fit on perfect and mounted nicely my swap is into a 1971 camaro so a little different if you have any questions send me a message
