Anyone have an update on this trans?
Read it is "supposed" to be released in April?
Just as strong as the new RS600 at a lower cost......i think?

It's been over two years since the transmission was first shown at SEMA. Something tells me that McLeod may have underestimated the issues involved with making a new transmission from scratch.

A quick Google search indicated that as of (I think) November, 2010, McLeod had a pre-production tranny in a Tri-5 Chevy and was trying to work out some shifting issues.

I, for one, appreciate that they either will work out the issues to their satisfaction and release the box after a long delay, or won't be able to economically solve the issue and will cancel the product. As compared to so many products for our hobby that don't work, don't fit or need significant modification to be used, it's nice to see a manufacturer doing the QC testing rather than letting us in the hobby do it for them or, worse yet, blaming issues on user error.

i saw it a couple months ago when i was in their shop. the thing is friggin SMALL compared to the tko or magnum. they still had some issues they were working out with the gear supplier, but they were testing the newest set of gears when i was there.

Supposedly it weighs 80 lbs per a McLeod rep posting on another forum.

I hope it comes to market at some point to give everyone yet more options.

I am sorry, but having a part number on the Summit website means nothing.

while i'll agree about a "ship date", having the part number means they are still serious about releasing the trans (or at least whenever that page was created). there have been talks that they may have scrapped it. the info on their forum and a part # make me think that its close.

Looks to be a nice option if it comes out. But Classic Industires has had a Firebird/Trans Am Dash Pad with a number and picture intheir catalog for almost 20 years and it has yet ot make it into production.

Given that Keisler seems to have underestimated the issues involved in beefing up a fully designed transmission, the only difference between McLeod and Keisler seems to be that McLeod hasn't taken orders or deposits.

Yes, I actually saw the McLeod transmission listed on the Summit website a year or so ago. I do hope they are finally able to make it to market and that it works out well to have yet another good option out there.

They were supposed to have it ready to go at SEMA this year. Did anyone see it? was it just the same display as last time?

It was the same display as last year. I did not get a chance to talk to anyone.

I talked to them at the mile high nationals earlier this year around July and they said they have two cars doing real life testing and were aiming for this fall early winter for release for sale. They told me it was getting close and they had resolved the parts supply issues but didn't want to release an untested or not available product.

Well that's nice to hear. My RS600 has a final ship date of Nov 17th, or I'll cancel it. I think four or five "final" ship dates is plenty patient on my part.

I'll have a couple months to decide what trans to use instead (TKO600, T56, or maybe this McLeod) before spring rolls around.

The only pics I've seen had strait cut gears. Is that going to be the final product?

This picture is not part of the automotive transmission. From what I understand it is part of a motorcycle transmission.

The M800 has helical cut gears and synchros.

I just bought one. It weighs 101lbs. Anyone using it? I'll be installing within the next two months (body out for paint now)
