I've been pushing mine into reverse for years. My only concern has been if there is undue wear being put on the nylon bushing the ball socket rides in of the shifter.

The reverse lockout failed in my 98 Z28, and like everybody else above I just pushed a bit harder to get it into reverse.

That worked great until the plastic ball in the factory Hurst shifter disintegrated.

Fun fact: You can call Hurst repeatedly and they can every time promise to send you a replacement ball... but they never will.

When I put the Pro 5.0 stick on the car, I made a point of replacing the reverse lockout solenoid at the same time. (The bad solenoid and the broken factory stick went with the car when I sold it, the Pro 5.0 and good solenoid I kept.)

I like the idea of two switches: brake and clutch to engage it. I've been muscling past it for years, but my girlfriend always has issues. Maybe that's a good excuse for her not to drive it though! haha
