i have a few questions. i have did a little searching, but want some help on this.. i got alot of info from this thread..

ok...

upper bars will be 28" long.
lowers will be 36.5" according to my scaled drawing which must be off. cause i roughly mapped it out on the floor and the lowers would only be 30.5"

i am not sure i even have enough room, or if my drawing is even remotely close to being right. i TRIED doing it at 1:26th scale. the bars dont look to have near 45 degree angle.

little rundown of my specs im trying to work with

102.5" wheelbase.
i only have 28" from inside frame rail, to inside frame rail.
height of camshaft 24". right now im running 22od tires, and my cam appears to be right at the top of the tire, and i am planning on swapping to 26" tall so that should make the cam be 24"
i made the vertical line 46" from axle center line to intersection of arms.

i have a feeling i wasted a bunch of time doing this little drawing..

I don't think the splayed arms really have to be at 45° with respect to vehicle centerline.

The uppers on the Fox/SN95 Mustang triangulated/converging 4-link are not at 45° and that's just a different arrangement of the same number and type of links. Edit: IIRC the Fox uppers are at about 32°. Probably not optimum for performance, but obviously a workable solution.

There's a guy who posts under the username 'jag' over at Corner-carvers.com who has built and run a Satchell link autocross car.

what would the least amout of angle the lowers can be at and still work?

Off the top of my head and from a structural standpoint, 40° from centerline sounds like a no-brainer and 30° scares me a little.

At 30° the axial compression in the link will be twice the lateral load component, and any bushing compliance or bracket flexibility will be reflected in less accurate lateral axle location (it'll deflect laterally somewhat more, and the original 30° skew angle for the outboard skew link might shift to 29° or even a bit lower).

Get some graph paper or print it out for accurate scale drawings. A scale ruler helps too. If they still make them. Where's my slide rule?

BTW, Staples has 4x4 and 5x5 graph paper in a few different sizes. I use the 11x17

thanks for all the help thus far!

im about to go take some measurements off my rear end/frame to see what kinda space im working with. before i only have a couple of rough dims.

i might stop by office depot tomorrow and pick up a few goodies

ok, i did a new drawing. i hope its pretty close this time..

28" uppers pointed down 1°
30" lowers pointed up 3°

heres pics.. hopefully it explains everything.

and as long as i read this right.. "for 100% antisquat the intersection of your arms (in side view) needs to lie on the antisquat line. above it you have over 100% antisquat."

that means anywhere on my antisquat line correct?

setup like it is i think my lower bars will only have 22° angle.

if i want 35° the lowers will be 22.80"
if i want 45° the lowers will be 17.25"

opinions? did i **** something up yet? how can i improve this?

A drawing from a Steve Smith book was wrong. Here it is altered by me.


AntiSquat should be measured at the intersection of the Force Vector, and the front axle centerline, as compared to CG Height.
