      Project SIII finally gets moving

Well, we're finally getting started. Attached is a rendering and a couple pics of what we're starting with. The 'we' is myself and my 11 year old son. He's as excited to get started on his first project as I am so one way or another we're going to figure out how to get this done. I haven't done a project in years, and never of this scope. I'm sure we'll be asking a few dumb questions along the way so please bear with us. Basic specs are BB Chevy, probably around 509 cubic inch, 6 speed automatic, tubular upper and lowers front and rear, Wilwood's front and rear, and as much as I can possibly afford in stereo gear. It won't be the wildest thing ever built but we're going to do it in our own garage so more than enough to be proud of. We'll be starting to strip out the white sheetmetal donor car this weekend. More pics later this weekend. Can't wait to get started!

Looks like this is going to be one sick project. Father son bonding is always a good thing especially on cars.

This looks like it's going to be a great project. The rendering looks awesome! You don't see (or at least I don't) too many Laguna's running around so it's certainly a change of pace from the usual Camaros, Firebirds, Mustangs, etc. that are out there.

Good luck and I can't wait for updates.

Thanks for all the kind words guys, it's really motivating to see all of these other great cars and projects that you have. This is one of those that the journey will be more important than the destination since my oldest son is involved. Unfortunately a friend of the family's passing put a damper on our progress this weekend but we will get more pics loaded very soon.

Hey Andrew, I should have put two and two together but I didn't until just now. How have you been?

That rendering is soo freakin' cool! You should definitely send it to Johnny Hunkins at PHR. He loves these cars and if you have any decent progress pics, maybe you'll get a spot in the Under Construction section. Good luck with the project.

Looks like it'll be a fun project. I myself want to get a car to save for when my son gets older so we can work on together. Glad to see you involving him!

      Please do post progress pics!

      good luck with it

like the rendering though never been a fan of that nose styling chevy did on their cars in the 70's

what if you delete the chrome front bumper and smooth out the front a bit to give it a more modern look

maybe some custom headlight buckets with some projector style lights

You'll definitely like what I'm doing to smooth the front end out. Been traveling way too much and am taking next week off so AJ and I can get started. There will be pics to view later next week so stay tuned.

Hunkins asked me for exclusive rights to PHR, but now that he's got his own there probably isn't room for mine anymore. Who at HR was looking for something like this?
