      Project 7TSS Chevelle Update

Well I started a thread last year about my Chevelle project and was making pretty good progress with the car all painted and ready to reassemble.

Here are some pics of it just after paint

Then I had a change of heart and decided to paint it black which is what I wanted from the start. Lesson learned: Don't let others talk you out of what you really want.

I contacted Carter Hickman about rendering the car again and this is what I'm shooting for

Now I'm back to sanding her down to get ready for another round of paint.

Here are a few of the rolling chassis. Still have to run the brake and fuel lines as well as mount the rear shocks.

I didn't box the frame as this is an original LS-6 Chevelle w/ build sheet. Even though it's not a numbers matching engine I didn't want to do anything permanent. Later, if I can find another frame I'd like to box and strengthen it and swap it in.

      Thanks for looking

      Goodwin

I was thinking the same thing about the wheel well and the drip rail moldings. Decisions decisions. LOL

Agreed. I hated them on my Chevelle, but don't let others talk you out of what you really want...

I am building your cars cousin. No stripes no drip rails and no wheel mouldings with sport mirrors and no emblems. when I saw the rendering my jaw dropped and then I stumbled on this thread. What are your plans for the engine? I'm goin LS3. The only difference in our suspensions is I think I'm goin air ride. You've got great taste!

Sounds like you've got great taste too.

As for my engine, I'm going to use what I already have which is a BBC 509 ci with Dart heads. I want to convert it to EFI eventually. Also wouldn't mind doing an LSX engine down the road.

Your project sounds cool. The air ride stuff is a great choice and has been proven to hang with a lot of the other suspension choices out there. Got any progress pics?

So did you decide to go red (apparently) instead of black with grey stripes... or are you going to paint it again?

Dan, I painted it red w/ black stripes and didn't really like it so I'm now going to re-do it in black

I am going to update it soon. Unfortunately haven't made as much progress as I would like. I am working on my own dash insert right now and I've had my Vintage Air unit sitting for a few months without haviing been mounted yet. I need to order my air ride setup and then try and try and make some progress .https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/sh...light=chevelle

I noticed you thread on another site about your control arms. My ATS spindles have b body tapers if yours do too you need CTA-42A. I bought my control arms through Tyler ( ATS )to avoid the problems.

rlehto--I saw your thread and read what color you were thinking about painting the project. Mine will be a little different with graphite colored stripes to match my rims instead of silver. Very close though. You got good taste.

Code Red--Unfortunately I'm going to repaint it black. Red is cool though, just not what I want this time.

Dude, that paint job looks sweet! A shame you have to paint over it.
Did you paint that yourself? Hard to find good painters on the island.
Nice work on the frame too..I'm jealous! Your garage is a large one to boot as well considering how small the average garage in Hawaii is...

808cuda -- The paint was done by a friend partially at another friend's shop and partially at home. The garage was my must have when I had the house built. I found a shop to paint it black since my friend doesn't want to do any more bare metal jobs. I paid him for the work so there's no hard feelings at least.

Young Gun -- Right now I'm stripping off the red and have to wait in line for the painter to take it in. Since it'll be done in pieces it could be a year before I get it all back from paint. That'll give me time to save up $$$$.
