      Phoenix C3 Intro & Project

I’ve been lurking off and on for about a year. I live in the Phoenix area and I’ve played around a bit with Novas, F-bodies, Chevelles and Elkys for some time, mainly as daily drivers and fairly mild drag race setups. Also some Solo II with a 2nd gen T/A – a 1978 WS6 that I bought new and still own. I have a 1968 Corvette coupe that I’ve owned for a number of years. It was very original when I bought it, but in need of some resto work and paint. It’s been lowered, 550# front coils, 360# rear fiber spring, full poly kit, plus a few odds and ends from Vette Brakes & Products. Smallblock, M21 and an undercar chambered exhaust setup. My project is to apply current pro-touring looks and technology to the car. I have not seen too much on the forums regarding C3 specific suspension setups, specifically the rear. I am aware of Tom’s Diffs and I know Global West has some pieces you don’t typically see advertised. I’m also interested in some sort of frame/chassis stiffening and some form of a cage that could be lived with on the street. I have seen some incredible and creative work here and I would like to try and come up with a creative and not too invasive approach for the chassis stiffening and the cage. If anyone knows of a source for work like this in the Phoenix area, I’d appreciate the input. Same with the rear suspension. I do not want to alter the body lines or wheelwell openings, so I’ll do the best I can with offset trailing arms, alter E-brake cable mounts, etc, when it comes to wheel/tire widths. I want to stick with a smallblock, but it’ll be 420+ inches. Not sure about the transmission, but it’ll have three pedals! Thank you in advance for any and all help, thanks for taking the time to read this and my hat’s off to the people here that have built some incredible, clean, tasteful cars.

Welcome...good to see another C3 vette owner on here.
I have pretty much modified everything on mine, so hopefully will be able to answer some of your questions..or at least give you ideas as to what can and cant be done.

That's a great, serious looking car! I've seen it before - either here or at CF.com. Welp, I'll certainly be asking questions.

Welcome Roger! I may know a guy who could help with the cage, but have his contact information and website address at work. I know he does a lot of custom work and just got a new tubing bender, so...

Good luck with the project and maybe we will see you around.

The web site or contact info would be great. It seems like with a C3 it's either full drag race or road race cages or something like a camera mount/belt mount 'roll bar', but not much in between. I'm looking for something that increases the safety factor (doesn't need to be certified for 9's, etc) and also stiffens the C3 chassis (Lord knows they need that). TIA
