      Cloned Meat WTF

Anyone else freaking out that the FDA are going to allow cloned meats to hit the store shevles without a label stating its cloned?
To be honest I cant see why they would clone livestock anyway. Wouldnt it cost more to grow them in a lab than to do it the old fashion way?

I saw the same newsclip. Unbelievable that the FDA has decided we really don't need to know we are eating cloned meat. This is some society we live in, some natural herbs are illegal, but cloned meat is fine. Don't read anything into my statement, I am not a proponant of the herb, but just think the irony is strange.

I saw that on the news as well and i gotta tell you . I WOULD WANT TO KNOW !
Being something new , who knows what the hell will happen to you in a year or two . Maybe you'll grow a 3rd leg or extra fingers ...
As it is now , you can't take any medications without it causing some sort of organ failure ..
Sure a little pill cures your Heartburn ,but it will affect your bone density and cause brittle bones so you can break a hip real easy..
( THAT WAS ON THE NEWS AT THE SAME TIME AS THE CLONED MEAT THING )

Damn near every label has a warning on it now that whatever it cures , it MAY CAUSE 10 other harmful effects to your body.

Like VIAGRA ( Saw this on the news too ) YEP , it'll put lead in your pencil but " IT CAN and HAS CAUSED BLINDNESS !!!
what do you need a stiff ***** for if you cant see what your using it on!

Becomming a VEGETARIAN sounds like a good idea! ( IF YOU GROW IT AT HOME )

they would take dna from a USDA Prime beef carcas and make clones of it thus improving the overall quality of meat. most farms probly use AI now so it likely wouldn't cost a whole lot more

These animals that have been cloned have a very short life span and high mortallity rate. Dont you think something is seriously wrong on a level we may not understand? We are what we eat. What if the unknown is something horrible that maybe spread to our children or 2 or 3 generations down the road?

Gee, wonder if it has anything to do with money?? Almost like the bill that passed in Missouri in Nov about allowing the cloning of human embryo's for "medical research" to supposidly create cures. Gimmie a f'n break! the biggest proponent for it is the huge medical companies that just (after it passed) got a free pass for tax money for "research" that (as stated in the bill) cannot be limited or taken away! It my friends, is all about dollars and nothing more!

Whats the matter with Beef? We've been eating genetically modified Tomatos for years. Fish DNA anyone? Its used to help the fruit fight off frost and insect damage.

realistically, they are setting up a catastrophe here. Think of it. eventually, they will cultivate the "ultimate" cow, millions of them all genetically identical, then a virus, one that would have only killed one cow before wipes out an entire supply. Genetic diversity is what makes livestock such a good investment in the first place. This is a STUPID and EXPENSIVE idea. It's not like we're having a hard time breeding cattle or other livestock.

Now. say, if you wanted to clone some bald eagles to make some "Patriot Nuggets" out of, then ok. Or some other near extint animal.

With all due respect to my friend Andrew the following is still some funny stuff:

"Vegetarians, and their Hezbollah-like splinter faction, the vegans, are a persistent irritant to any chef worth a damn. To me, life without veal stock, pork fat, sausage, organ meat, demiglace, or even stinky cheese is a life not worth living." ~ Anthony Bourdain from Kitchen Confidential.

I have to agree with Anthony...I love his show and similar ones that show the gastronomic adventures of a true food lover..At my age, great food is almost as good as sex...I say this just after a quad bypass..I told the docs, I just can't radically alter my eating habits. Anyway, I never heard of anyone getting out of here alive yet..I'm going to live life to the fullest and enjoy it while I'm here..

You and your vegetarian-edness almost had us waiting 45 minutes for a table. And we drove past at least 60 restaurants on the way to that "grazing" friendly joint.

Face it, homey: Cows are convenient. Cloned cows? Very convenient.

Anyone ever have a close look at a Slim Jim wrapper?

First ingredient: Mechanically separated chicken. Will someone please explain that process?
