      Chevelle Wheel question

Ok i posted this same question over at team chevelle and like i figured got flamed for wanting to put 20"s on a chevelle. Let me see what you guys have to say and what will and wont fit.

" I know i am gonna get flammed for this here but i am gonna ask anyway as i am curious. I bought a small hot wheels, actually its a Foose type car the other day and it was a 71 chevelle and it was primer black in color and had what looked like 20"'s on it. It just had a real sinister look. I was wondering if anyone knows what it would take or what the biggest 20" or at least 18" whell i coud stuff under it with no tub work. I have found a car i can get cheap and would primer black it and throw a motor in it and just cruise it.
Just some random thoughts i have been having."

if u put a 20in rim in the back u prolly arnt going to have much side wall for a tire and it will not make the best cruiser unless u are driving on new street. u will feel every bump with a ruber band tire. any ways i dont think a 20in rim will fit in the back with out mods. and if u plan on lowering it(witch i hope u would) i think the rearwheel wells would need to be raised to tuck the 20s.

I just wne through the 17 or 18 deal. I'm happy with the 18s because the tire selection is better.

you can fit the 20's on the big chevelles in the rear, Maybe like a 20x9. Not sure of the offset. To get the slammed look like that foose model looks like, you'll need to do some mods, but they can be done economicaly. Like said above, the ride is not gonna be the greatest Also the rims are scaled way up on those cars, prob like 22-24's in the rear. Could luck and PM me if you want some ideas!

you can fit a 20x10 in the rear with NO mods. I am not sure of the backspacing ( i think 5.75-6.0 but not sure) but there are quite a few that have done this already.

      18's in front 4.5 backspacing - 235.45.18

      20's in back 5.5 backspacing - 275.35.20

No mini tub required. Ask me how I know?

Since the thread is started anyway, I am looking at trying to stuff some 305/45-18 Nitto Drag Radials under a non tubbed 70 Chevelle. Any suggestions on wheel b/s, I am planning on 10inch wide. I am thinking maybe the same as Roger has mentioned in the previous post, 5.5?

and like everyone said.. close.. bad ride.. but BAD ASS.

now how funny is it that this site is the only site willing to listen to the "can i rock 20s" without thinking they mean the 1920s?.. hahahaha

22x10s (billet rim so it measures 22x11) will fit a stock wheel well with the lips shaved a little bit. 285/30/22 tire also

I think that the 555r's have decent traction but what makes them so desireable it for a r compound tire it lasts awhile.. but i'll always be partial to the bfg drag radials.... of course they don't last for anything...

any radial based tire or any tire for that fact with a short sidewall will give poor performance, which im sure you all know. the nitto however when new is one best ive had. but after its warn down a slight bit, its worthless, and its not cheap.
