      Ride height problems with new suspension, help

      I finally got my alignment set and everything tightened down today so decided to talke the car for a quick ride. It turned out to be really quick because a problem came up that needs to be corrected and I am not sure at this point which direction to go.

      I've got the G5 front brake setup with the adjustable upper A Arms from SC&C along with Spohn tubular lower A Arms, QA1 adjustable shocks, moog f 741 springs and 245/45-17 tires.
      The problem is that the front is now sitting too low and the tires scrub the inner fenders over bumps and during braking.
      It is such a tight fit that I can not slide my fingers between the top of the tire and the inner fender.
      Can anyone offer some options on how I might correct this, different springs, some type of spring spacer? Last resort may be to send the lower arms back to Spohn and have them reposition the spring pockets but I would realy like to avoid doing that.
      Any help is greatly appreciated.
      PS. sorry I forgot to mention that the car is a Monte Carlo SS.

      Either that, or maybe use one of those nascar style spring rubbers. It's a big chunk of rubber that goes between a coil, used to fine tune the spring rate etc. If you're only looking to raise it 1/2" or so and make it a bit stiffer, might be right up your alley.

      Another small helper is to replace all the inner fender hardware with low profile button head screws. Sometimes the minor gain in clearance makes a difference.

      I like the look of those spring shims, they may be just the ticket. HAs anyone ever used them?

      John,

      I just installed a set on my 73 Camaro. For me, they just set right up in the frame pocket and are located by the same ring that located the top of the stock spring.

      I am unsure as to the specs on the stock G-body springs, but if the top of the spring is flat and at least 5" ID the shims should work. If you know how much you want the front to come up, cut the collar on the shim to 1/2 the measurement you want to raise it. For example, if you want the front to come up 1.5" cut the shim to .75" and you still have room to adjust up from there.
