      Griffin Radiator Questions 1970 GTO

I just picked up a clearanced Exact Fit Radiator from Summit for my 1970 GTO project. I was wondering if someone could help me with a couple questions about it. First, there is a silver plug on the top corner. Is this a place to tap in a steam line for an ls motor, temp sensor, or what? The second question is about two threaded fittings on the side. They have some kind of nut thing around them. It looks like two additional taps? Is this something Griffin would have done or is this a modification by someone? Any idea what the purpose of them would be? I have attached a couple photos.

      Thanks for any help.

Is this for an auto trans setup ??? Looks like the two fittings would be for trans cooling lines. The other for a trans fluid temp sensor. Just a WAG ...

Yes, the two on the left with the bronze nuts in your picture are for an automatic transmission cooler. The plug in the bottom left of your picture could be used for the steam line. That is what I would use it for. The photo has the radiator upside down.

Nice set-up! Are you doing a LS swap?

Yep. Going LS. I'm building an LSA motor piece by piece with some adjustments. The ZL1 guys are dumping a lot of stock parts these days.

Superchargers, injectors, intercooler pumps, intercooler heat exchangers, 6 piston brakes, etc. Basically anything they are upgrading for more power or pulling off of crashed parts cars. My build thread is here where you can see some of what i've collected.

The one you believe is the for the steam port is actually a drain plug, the rad is upside down in that pic as the cap/filler is at the bottom.

Yes the radiator is upside down. However, the brass petcock is in the top right corner where it would drain. The fitting to be used for a steam port is silver close to the filler cap.

Griffin is only doing LS swap rads with Inlet/Outlet on the Pass. Side. That is a standard unit that is why there is no steam tube port.

Make sure it fits - the Griffin I bought off of Summit hit my Steering Pump. I had Griffin make me a Custom Unit
