      LED Headlamp Question

What is the consensus of everyone on using the 7" round glass headlamp housing with a LED lamp? Just saying it would sure be less expensive than the self contained one's I'm seeing online. Just trying to get everyone's opinion.

Are you talking about using a H4 type LED insert with a 7 inch housing (like a Hella one)? I have the truckle 27270 ones and love them!

Just wondering if anyone has used them as opposed to buying the $200 a piece units, and what everyone thinks about them. I know Hella makes some and there seems to be a lot of others too.

      Carl,
I also have the Trucklite 27270C headlamps and they are awsome! If you go to ebay and do a search for the part number you can find them for a whole range of prices. There are some knock off 27270C that are as cheap as $60 each but I have no idea of the quality.

Actually, what I was wondering about were the glass housings that you can replace the bulbs with LED's.

The "bulb" LEDs in an H4 housing are a bad idea, generally speaking the light distribution is guaranteed to be poor, as in worse than halogen lamps. More foreground light, less light down the road, and more glare to other drivers. Overall this makes seeing more difficult even if they happen to look brighter all the while making it harder for others on the road to drive safely. Best case scenario if you get lucky with the right bulb and housing combo is something that isn't a road hazard, I'd call them a waste of money on anything other than a trailered show car that you want bright white lights on.

Truck lights here also. LOVE them. Put out a nice amount of crisp white light.
